Cadw's description
Location
In the road to the south of the entrance to the Churchyard of Penallt Old Church.
History
This mounting block is one of a number of similar ones in the locality, but it survives complete and in a heritage location. These blocks are a by-product of the local millstone industry for which the Penallt conglomerate was particularly known.
Exterior
Block of sandstone conglomerate set upright in the ground with three steps cut in the narrow face.
Reason for designation
Included as a mounting block of local manufacture which survives in good condition and has good group value with the other historic buildings at Old Church.
