Shown on 5 historical map sheets, the earliest the 1795 "To Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn Bart ... the map of the six counties of North Wales is most humbly inscribed by his obedient humble servant" (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru – The National Library of Wales).
Cadw's description
Location
The bridge carries the minor road to the Cwm Penanner over the Afon Nug, 350m SW of the village centre.
History
Probably built in the late C18 or early C19 to replace a ford. Repairs are recorded as having taken place in 1819.
Exterior
Built of local rubble stonework. A wide-span single-centred arch of voussoirs capped with a regulating course, rising to a central projecting keystone. The spandrels rise to parapets which curve outwards at the ends to square capped piers. The flat parapet copings are linked with iron cramps run in with lead.
Reason for designation
Included as a largely unaltered smaller country bridge of a type that was erected widely in this area in the late C18 or early C19.
