Cadw's description
Location
Bridge carries Ciliau Aeron-Cilcennin by-road over River Aeron. 0.8km NE of Ciliau Aeron.
History
Mid/later C18, shown on a 1769 map of Cilcennin parish. Widened downstream (W) probably in early C19.
Exterior
Rubble built bridge of two segmental arches, recessed on the downstream side: stone voussoirs. The S arch is wider and lower. Broad triangular cutwater on upstream side between the arches: slight projection on widened side probably represents former cutwater. Long parapet walls with both slate and stone-slab coping, continuing as retaining walls, splayed to NE to contain river bank.
Reason for designation
Mid/later C18 bridge which retains its distinctive character.
