Cadw's description

Situated on the W side of the Stepaside to Pentre road. Set back from the road behind a low wall, and with cow house on the S side, and a corrugated metal lean-to garage attached to the N gable.

Early C19, as shown on Mochdre Tithe map of 1839. The outshot was added later. The roof was renewed c1935.

Assymetrical double fronted, 2-storey house, with outshot at rear under a catslide roof. Brick, painted white, with corrugated metal roof. Two end stacks in brick. Dentilled eaves. Front elevation has 4-pane casements in the upper storey. Lower storey windows are wider, under segmental brick heads, with a 4-pane casement to the left, and a 6-pane iron frame casement to the right. Gabled porch of corrugated metal sheets, with a 6-panel front door, the upper 2 panels of frosted glass. Outshot has C20 windows at the back. Cow house under a lower, corrugated metal roof, of random rubble painted white, and with cement render at the front. In the upper storey it has an opening to a former loft, and 2 openings at ground level. At the back is a planked door.

Not accessible at time of inspection (February 1996).

Listed as a good example of a small early C19 house in an emerging brick tradition, retaining its early character
