Cadw's description

Near the lake at the southern end of the park, immediately beside the pavilion.

Erected in l9ll; manufactured by W MacFarlane and Co, Glasgow. "Presented to the Inhabitants of Aberdare by Lord Merthyr of Senghenydd in commemoration of the Coronation of Their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary June l9ll".

Tall and colourful fountain with classical detail and broad circular basin. Crowning statue of Liberty over scalloped small basin with beaded underside. Between this and the larger basin to middle is a cylindrical column sprouting daffodils and swans resting on a bed of water lillies. Petalled edge to larger basin which is supported above the drum base; the latter has detached columns with foliage capitals and other leafy detail. Encrusted plasterwork including classical figures. Axial projections beyond each column; these have large dolphins with putti on their backs; lions heads to the angles between these arms. The outer rim of the main basin is roll moulded to top and ramped outwards decorated by sun flower roses and linking bosses and strapwork.
