Juni 1955.

In this house / died on 31.5.1809 / the Marshal severely wounded at Apsern / Marshal / Jean Lannes / Duke of Montebello / Bezirksmuseum Simmering

A commemorative plaque for Marshal Lannes was already erected in 1955, namely on house 11, Mailergasse 5, which was demolished in 1989. Since doubts had existed for some time as to whether house No. 5 was the correct location, research was carried out which confirmed house Mailergasse 12 as the marshal's place of death. As the original plaque from the 1950s was already heavily weathered in the early 1990s, a new plaque was made.
Unveiling of the first plaque on 11 June 1955.
