HISTORISCHE TUIN- en PARKAANLEG
In 1824 kocht mr. Jacobus Bredius, notaris en burgemeester van Woerden een stuk terrein van Sigismund Ham van Sluipwijk dat het uitgangspunt geweest is voor de latere buitenplaats en landgoed. Hij richtte ter plaatse een 'tuin van vermaak' in met een theekoepel aan het water (531017) en een tweede op het terrein ('tuinhuis'), alsmede aan de noordkant een 'bosch tot vermaek' en een klein hakhoutbosje. Een en ander staat afgebeeld op de kadastrale minuut van omstreeks 1830. In 1863 verrees in opdracht van Cornelis Jan Bredius de villa Rijnoord (531015) op het oude terrein van vermaak, met een oprijlaan vanaf de Oostdam. Aan het begin van de oprijlaan kwam een hek met pijlers (531018), met twee wapendragende leeuwen. Hij is degene die het landschapsparkje heeft laten aanleggen, dat ter plaatse nog steeds aanwezig is. In het park stonden diverse tuinbeelden, waarvan er nog een bewaard is gebleven (531019). HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT
In 1824 Mr. Jacobus Bredius, notary and burgomaster of Woerden, purchased a plot of land from Sigismund Ham van Sluipwijk which became the starting point for the later country estate and land holding. He established there a 'pleasure garden' with a tea pavilion by the water (531017) and a second on the property ('garden house'), as well as on the north side a 'wood for pleasure' and a small coppice. All of this is depicted on the cadastral plan of around 1830. In 1863 the villa Rijnoord (531015) was built at the instruction of Cornelis Jan Bredius on the old pleasure ground, with a driveway from the Oostdam. At the beginning of the driveway came a gate with pillars (531018), with two heraldic lions. He is the one who had the landscape park laid out, which is still present there today. In the park there were various garden statues, of which one has been preserved (531019). The landscape park from 1863 consists of a section around the house with a curved path pattern that creates a spatial effect through the deliberate placement of trees and shrubs and a small part east of the driveway which originally also belonged to the park.
