Omschrijving complexonderdeel 2

Description of complex component 2

A detached LODGE HOUSE dating from 1887, located at the beginning of the eastern access drive, designed by architect J.N. Landré, has an almost rectangular plan and one storey beneath a composite gabled roof with overhanging roof tiles and wind braces on bracket constructions. The wind brace in the right side gable is still fitted with the original openwork. The roof tiles are covered with slate in overlapping bond. The brick-built facades are decorated with ashlar courses and corner accents, half-timbering and decorative brickwork. The brackets rest on ashlar volute corbels. Two- and three-light windows are set in the facades. The front or west facade is five window bays wide and has a projecting section of two storeys on the central axis beneath a gabled roof whose ridge is perpendicular to the road. On the roof is set a bell turret with spire. In the projecting section is located the entrance consisting of a panelled door with two lights above which a three-part fanlight with ashlar mullions is set. Above this is a frieze with decorative brickwork and above the window is a frieze of half-timbering. In the apex is placed a rose window with cast-iron tracery. On the right side of the central axis above the windows are two roof dormers with pitched caps which project through the roof tiles. To the left of the projecting section is an upper storey of more recent date. Originally a balcony was located here. On the front this structure is covered with brass and groove components. The side gable and rear gable are rendered white. The upper structure falls outside the protection. Against the rear gable on the left a smaller outbuilding beneath a lean-to roof is built. This outbuilding likewise falls outside the protection. To the right of it the gable steps forward. The right side gable has a two-light window positioned in the middle above which a small balcony on brackets is placed. The left side gable has no special details. The interior contains, with the exception of the black marble chimney with floral decorations and decorative tiles in the living room, no details that warrant protection.
