Naar ontwerp van J.D. Zocher (1869-1870), L.P. Zocher (1892), L. van der Bijl (1900; 1926-1931) en C.P. Broerse (1931) gefaseerd tot stand gekomen PARKAANLEG met PADENSTELSEL van de Algemene Begraafplaats Zorgvlied. Oudste onderdeel (Zie bijgaande plattegrond (I)) aangelegd op een voormalig weiland van drie hectaren. Landschappelijke aanleg met kronkelend padenstelsel geflankeerd door diverse soorten bomen. De uitbreiding van 1892 (II) vond plaats aan de noordwestzijde en omvatte een terrein ter grootte van 18 bij 66 meter. De aanleg was eveneens gebaseerd op de Engelse landschapsstijl. In 1900 vond er een uitbreiding (III) plaats op een smalle strook land aan de zuidwestzijde, tussen de mede tot stand gekomen grote Platanenlaan enerzijds en de latere oprijlaan en de aula anderzijds en uitmondend op een gedeelte aan de noordwestzijde van Zorgvlied. Ook hier werd er gebruik gemaakt van vloeiende lijnen. De Platanenlaan markeert de grens tussen de oorspronkelijke aanleg en de uitbreiding van 1892 enerzijds en de uitbreiding van 1900 anderzijds. De uitbreiding van 1919 en nogmaals in 1926 (IV) vonden in noordwestelijke richting plaats. Dit betekende een verdubbeling van de totale oppervlakte. Deze uitbreiding kenmerkt zich door een grote lus waarbinnen een stelsel van overwegend gebogen paden is gecreëerd. Hoewel rechte lijnen nagenoeg ontbreken oogt de uitleg toch strakker dan de voorgaande. Bij de laatste vooroorlogse uitbreiding (V) in de zuidwestelijke hoek, teruggezet vanaf de Amstel, werden een nieuwe ingang met oprijlaan en aula opgenomen. De uitleg links van de aula kenmerkt zich door een stelsel van rechte paden; uitleg boven de aula door een overwegend cirkelvormige padenstructuur. Structuur van hoofdlanen en paden wordt mede bepaald door plaatsing van diverse beplanting. In het oude deel is de beplanting aangelegd volgens het 'blijf- en wijksysteem', waarbij meer bomen aangeplant worden dan er uiteindelijk kunnen blijven staan. Bredere hoofdlanen worden gescheiden van de graven door middel van taxushagen, platanen en moseiken.

Broerse (1931) of the PARK LAYOUT with PATH SYSTEM of the Algemene Begraafplaats Zorgvlied. Oldest component (See attached plan (I)) laid out on a former meadow of three hectares. Landscape layout with winding path system flanked by various types of trees. The 1892 extension (II) took place on the north-west side and encompassed an area measuring 18 by 66 metres. The layout was likewise based on the English landscape style. In 1900 an extension (III) took place on a narrow strip of land on the south-west side, between the also newly created large Platanenlaan on the one hand and the later access road and hall on the other hand, and opening onto a section on the north-west side of Zorgvlied. Here too flowing lines were used. The Platanenlaan marks the boundary between the original layout and the 1892 extension on the one hand and the 1900 extension on the other hand. The extensions of 1919 and again in 1926 (IV) took place in a north-westerly direction. This meant a doubling of the total area. This extension is characterised by a large loop within which a system of predominantly curved paths has been created. Although straight lines are almost absent, the layout nonetheless appears more formal than the preceding ones. In the last pre-war extension (V) in the south-west corner, set back from the Amstel, a new entrance with access road and hall were included. Structure of main avenues and paths is also determined by the placement of various planting. In the old section the planting was laid out according to the 'retention and removal system', whereby more trees are planted than can ultimately remain standing. Wider main avenues are separated from the graves by means of yew hedges, plane trees and Mosaic oaks.
