Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 1: HOOFDGEBOUW.

Description
Description of component 1: MAIN BUILDING.
The main building (Huis te Leur) dating from 1778 comprises two storeys and an attic storey. The ground floor storey is relatively low. Above it stands a tall piano nobile, finished with a continuous eaves moulding with gutter on brackets and a tall hipped roof. Four chimneys with caps at the corners. Weathervane in Van Balveren colours silver-black on the front slope. Bell-pull in wooden bell frame on the rear slope. The house stands on a nearly square ground plan. The front facade with a central projection and slightly projecting corner pilasters is symmetrical in layout. The central projection contains a double entrance door with a round-arched balcony door above it. Door section with double pilaster moulding in front of which stand two Ionic columns (shortened in 1867) which carry a cornice upon which a small iron balcony is mounted. The balcony door is also provided with a wooden moulding and a cornice carried by two consoles bearing the crowned family coat of arms of Van Balveren with lions as shield supporters. The central projection is terminated with a triangular pediment. Windows with T-shaped sash windows and venetian blinds. Pediment, moulding and window arrangement from 1867. In the roof dormers (1929) 20-pane glazed windows with alternating dormer. Extension to the rear from 1867.
The layout on both storeys is symmetrical with a central passage lined with marble slabs and rooms on either side. The staircase is located at the level of the middle of the passage in the right aisle. To the right of the entrance a small room which communicates with a pantry behind the stair, to the left an elongated room with fireplace against the rear wall and windows in the front facade and the side facade. Behind it the kitchen with white tiles. On the right side facing this a basement-level storage room (the so-called Schotelhuis). The stair with finely worked springing baluster and fairly flat balusters dates from the building period of the house and winds up over two storeys. Profiled handrail. On the piano nobile there is on the left the hall (grand salon) with fireplace and breast. Stucco work of ceiling with velum, profiled mouldings and scrollwork is 18th century, detailing of stucco work on breast and wall articulation will probably date from 1867. On the right the gentleman's room to the front with fireplace (19th century). Stucco ornament on ceiling, laurel wreath with bow and Jerusalem fern possibly still 18th century. Behind it the bedrooms. On the attic (altered in 1929), an eight-sided lantern with frosted glass and small rooms.
