Omschrijving
Het woonhuis De Bovenste Molen is een bakstenen woonhuis uit circa 1895, gelegen aan de Loenense beek. Het op rechthoekige grondslag opgetrokken pand bestaat uit één bouwlaag met een kapverdieping onder een met gesmoorde vlakke Friese pannen gedekt zadeldak. De regelmatig ingedeelde, drie traveeën brede voorgevel is centraal voorzien van een gemetseld dakhuis onder een steekkap. Links en rechts van de decoratieve voordeur een T-venster met luiken. Boven de voordeur eveneens een T-venster. In de beide zijgevels vensters als in de voorgevel. Aan de achterzijde een uitbouw voorzien van een toegangsdeur geflankeerd door dubbele ramen met luiken. Tegen de rechter zijgevel een moderne serre in historische trant.
Het perceel behoorde vanaf het midden van de 17de eeuw tot 1926 tot de gronden van Ter Horst. Het huis heeft de maat en decoratieve vormgeving van een bescheiden dienstwoning. Gezien de langdurige verbondenheid met Ter Horst is het aannemelijk dat er personeel van de buitenplaats gehuisvest was. Daarbij kan het huis een ornamentele rol hebben vervuld op wandelingen over het landgoed.

Description
The dwelling house De Bovenste Molen is a brick dwelling house from circa 1895, situated on the Loenense stream. The building erected on rectangular plan consists of one storey with a roof space conversion under a gabled roof covered with muted flat Frisian tiles. The regularly subdivided front facade, three bays wide, is centrally furnished with a masonry roof house under a raking roof. To the left and right of the decorative front door a T-window with shutters. Above the front door likewise a T-window. In both side facades windows as in the front facade. At the rear side an extension furnished with an access door flanked by double windows with shutters. Against the right side facade a modern conservatory in historical style.
From the middle of the 17th century until 1926 the plot belonged to the lands of Ter Horst. The house has the scale and decorative design of a modest service dwelling. Given the long-term association with Ter Horst it is reasonable to assume that personnel from the country house estate were housed here. In addition, the house may have served an ornamental purpose on walks across the estate.
