Omschrijving onderdeel 2: HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG.
De historische tuin- en parkaanleg rond kasteel Well dateert uit de 19de en 20ste eeuw en borduurt voort op het aanwezige patroon dat tot de Middeleeuwen terug gaat. In het midden van de 19de eeuw is er sprake van een eenvoudige parkaanleg aan de noord- en westkant. Langs de buitengracht was sprake van een bescheiden wandelbos, het Singel. Het vierkante terrein daartussenin was in gebruik als boomgaard en moestuin. In de jaren na 1885 werd het wandelbos aan de westkant op het huiseiland en het voorpark uitgebreid, samenhangend met de bouw van een nieuw gedeelte aan het kasteel. De gracht werd aan de westkant gedempt. Hier werd een grote waterput met pomp gemetseld. In het terrein werden wandelpaden en een lichte accidentering aangebracht. Er kwam tevens een dijk tot stand zodat de hele plaats kon worden omgelopen. In de loop van de twintigste eeuw werd een ophaalbrug gebouwd naar de Bovenhof vanwaar men met een voetbrug over de buitengracht op de Singel komt. In de westelijke wandeltuin werd omstreeks 1930 op een opgeworpen wal een 'bastion' met stapelmuurtjes gemaakt waarop stukken beeldhouwwerk zijn gerangschikt.

Description component 2: HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT.
The historic garden and park layout around castle Well dates from the 19th and 20th centuries and continues the existing pattern which goes back to the Middle Ages. In the middle of the 19th century there was a simple park layout on the north and west sides. Along the outer moat there was a modest pleasure wood, the Singel. The square terrain in between was in use as an orchard and vegetable garden. In the years after 1885 the pleasure wood on the west side of the house island and the forecourt was expanded, in conjunction with the construction of a new section of the castle. The moat was filled in on the west side. Here a large water pump house was built. In the terrain walking paths and slight landscaping were introduced. A dike was also created so that the whole place could be walked around. During the course of the twentieth century a drawbridge was built towards the Bovenhof from where one can reach the Singel with a footbridge over the outer moat. In the western pleasure garden around 1930 a 'bastion' with stacked stone walls was created on a raised embankment on which pieces of sculpture are arranged.
