Inleiding:
De damsluis bij de Pothbrug uit 1865 diende als onderdeel van de Grebbelinie voor de regulering en doorvoer van het inundatiewater naar de lager gelegen inundatiekommen en het zo nodig keren van de Lunterse Beek, sinds 1937 het Valleikanaal.
Omschrijving:
In 1865 aangelegd WATERWERK, bestaande uit een damsluis.
De Damsluis is gelegen pal ten zuiden van de weg Woudenberg-Scherpenzeel (N224) en is uitgevoerd in metselwerk met deels hardstenen schotbalksponningen en hoekprofielen. Op de damsluis ligt een moderne betonnen voetbrug. Verder is de sluis voorzien van een moderne stuw en enkele moderne machinekasten.
De afmetingen van de damsluis zijn maximaal 13,4 bij 17,9 meter inclusief de landhoofden. De sluis heeft twee doorstroomopeningen van elk 5 meter breed, gescheiden door een middenpenant van 5,10 bij 1,50 meter. In het midden bevinden zich twee schotbalksponningen.
Waardering:
De damsluis is van algemeen belang vanwege:
Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Grebbelinie, zoals deze in een periode van 200 jaar in zes fasen is aangelegd.
Architectuurhistorische waarden in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is op:
a. het systeem van inundatie en accesverdediging ( 18de, 19de en 20ste eeuw),
