Onderdeel 1

Inleiding

Component 1

Introduction

A 17th-century farmstead of the hall-house type in its original layout, of which the front part largely dates from the second half of the 18th century and the stable section was renewed and enlarged in the first quarter of the 19th century and at the end of the 19th century (brickwork facades). In 1973 the right side facade of the business section was renewed once more. The farmstead is the main component of an agricultural complex which also consists of a scraped earth pit shed and a sand shed.

Description

A FARMSTEAD constructed in brick on an almost rectangular ground plan. The business section projects slightly in relation to the residential part on both sides. The characteristic silhouette of the farmstead is also determined by the half-hipped roof with a camel's hump as the transition from the lower residential section to the much higher business section. The roof is thatched with reeds with the exception of the right roof slope of the business section which was fitted with ridge tiles at the end of the 19th century. In the brickwork of the facades and the windows and doors contained therein different building phases are discernible. Characteristic is that the rear facade of the business section is on the left fitted with a chamfered corner with double wagon doors. The rear facade is fitted with wooden cladding at the top. The front facade is a gabled roof with a half-hipped end in which the front door is located to the right of the centre. On the right the location of the cellar and loft room is discernible from the cellar window placed low in the facade with theft bars above which is a loft window with a sash window and shutters. On the left in the front facade two windows (the left one placed lower in the facade) with sash windows and shutters and in the gable top a loft window without shutters. In the interior a fire wall (presumably first half of the 17th century) separates the front part from the middle part. In the residential section there is on the right a loft room with cellar. The front part has a construction of two anchor beam trusses, the truss posts of which are incorporated in the stone side walls of the central aisle. This front room is fitted against the fire wall with a tiled chimney and further includes amongst others a special wooden bedstead (19th century?). Next to the entrance door a steep wooden staircase leads to the front loft. The middle part was altered in 1943 and distinguishes itself in the interior by characteristic elements for this period. In this section also traces of earlier building phases, including remains of a tiled chimney. In the business section the pine anchor beam trusses date from the first quarter of the 19th century. The construction of the stable is fitted with a flood loft.

Valuation

FARMSTEAD of the hall-house type, of general importance because of cultural historical value and building historical value because of its age and well-preserved different building phases from the 17th century into the twentieth century. The farmstead is a good example of a farmstead type characteristic for the region with in the interior diverse well-preserved details from various building periods to which the farmstead also owes rarity value. The farmstead is further special because of the main form with camel's hump and has situational and ensemble values because of the coherence with the other buildings and the characteristic situation in a farmstead row.
