De GROTE of BOUWLOODS bevindt zich in de noord-oostelijke hoek van het werfterrein. De loods dateert in aanleg uit circa 1870. Dit is de loods waarin de schepen werden gebouwd.
Tweebeukige loodsgebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, opgebouwd uit zwartgeteerde gepotdekselde houten wanden waarin een aantal luiken en diverse vensteropeningen zijn aangebracht. De loods heeft een asymmetrische kap die is gedekt met oud-hollandse pannen, aangevuld met verbeterde oud-hollandse pannen. Aan weerszijden van het dak houten goten op klossen. De draagconstructie bestaat uit opeenvolgende dekbalkgebinten waarop schaarspanten zijn aangebracht. Hierin zijn vrijwel onbewerkte boomstammen, forse boomtakken en historisch bouwmateriaal van schepen en gebouwdelen gebruikt. In de loods bevindt zich een werkplaats met een lemen vloer en een gedeelte dat met werkbanken is ingericht. De zolder werd gebruikt voor de opslag van klein hout, blokken, touw en ander materiaal. Het achterschot van de loods is in delen wegneembaar om de schepen in en uit te kunnen rijden.

Description
The LARGE or SHIPBUILDING SHED is located in the north-eastern corner of the yard. The shed dates in its construction from circa 1870. This is the shed in which the ships were built.
Two-aisled shed building on rectangular plan, constructed of black-tarred and pot-tarred wooden walls in which a number of shutters and various window openings are provided. The shed has an asymmetrical roof which is covered with old-Dutch tiles, supplemented with improved old-Dutch tiles. On either side of the roof wooden gutters on corbels. The supporting structure consists of successive collar tie trusses upon which scissor trusses are mounted. In this are used virtually unworked tree trunks, sturdy tree branches and historical building material from ships and building parts. In the shed there is a workshop with an earth floor and a section fitted with work benches. The loft was used for storage of small timber, blocks, rope and other materials. The back shutter of the shed is removable in sections to allow ships to be moved in and out.
