Inleiding
Sluis met één paar sluisdeuren onder de Maasdijk in het buitengebied, die een verbinding vormt tussen het Staelduin en het Nieuwe Water. Blijkens de stichtingssteen gebouwd door Jonkheer Auguste Josephus Alousius van Rijckevorsel in 1857 ter ontginnging van het Staelduin. Bij de restauratie is op enkele details na de oorspronkelijke toestand als uitgangspunt genomen. Hierbij zijn ook de bedieningskatrollen van de sluisdeuren teruggebracht. N.B. Een moderne reconstructie is gemaakt van het benedendijkse schuurtje met de sluisbalken.
Omschrijving
Afwateringssluis met één paar sluisdeuren onder een overkluizing. De opbouw is aan beide kanten van de dijk gelijk met boven het tongewelf een muurvlak parallel aan het wegdek en daartegenaan geplaatst de schuine met het talud aflopende muurdammen, waarvan de damwanden weer parallel lopen aan het wegdek en het talud. Het metselwerk is een grauw bakstenen kruisverband met aan de kademuren vlechtingen en op de haakse beëindigingen betonnen afdekplaten. De muurdammen zijn afgedekt met natuurstenen platen (deels vervangen door beton). Ook van hardsteen zijn de blokken boven de houten ingemetselde meerpalen en de blokken in de omlijstingen van de doorgangen. De blokken in de poten van de bogen en de sluitsteen zijn licht uitgemetseld. Aan de westkant de H-vormige houten sluisdeuren in een houten frame en boven de overkluizing een hardstenen stichtingssteen. Aan de oostzijde stootbalken en een hardstenen wapenschild.
Waardering

Introduction
Lock with one pair of lock gates beneath the Maasdijk in the open countryside, which forms a connection between the Staelduin and the Nieuwe Water. Description
Drainage lock with one pair of lock gates beneath an arch vault.
