Inleiding

Waardering

De HALLEHUISSCHUUR is van algemeen belang vanwege:

- het bouwtype, een solitaire, driebeukige boerenschuur uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw;

Introduction

Hall-house barn located behind the farmstead, with brick walls, built in the second half of the 19th century in craft-traditional building manner. The animal feed storage later built transversely on the rear side falls outside the protection.

Description

The HALL-HOUSE BARN covers an almost rectangular floor plan and counts one storey under an unboarded roof truss structure, covered with mainly red Old Dutch tiles. Gabled roof with half-hipped roof (on the east side) at the level of the rear house of the miller's dwelling. On the axis of the gable facade on the mill side the loading gate with half-doors which is closed with a segmental arch, on either side two arched cast-iron stable window panes. Wrought-iron wall anchors. Gate door with vertical strips. Above this door is the hatch to the seed or hay loft. Loading gate is flanked by double dung doors on the right side and single dung door on the left, with wrought-iron fittings. Already before the Second World War the stables served as storage for artificial fertiliser. Probably for that reason in the years after the war the buttresses against the barn were added, built from brick but provided with a plaster layer. They were meant to help resist the increasing pressure on the one-brick side walls. The artificial fertiliser was poured in loose, often up to roof height. In the interior with the roof truss there is an anchor beam structure. Three of the four posts on the left side of the entrance stand on stones, the fourth on a wooden support. The four posts on the right side rest on brick bases varying from approximately half a metre to one metre in height. Main beams braced by corbels. On the main beams lie sleepers for the storage of hay or grain. On the right side of the entrance there are two partition walls of approximately one metre high, which as separation still recall the boxes for the pigs and possibly the horses of the grain business. The gable side at the location of the animal feed storage is partly closed off with concrete blocks. The connection to the storage is closed off with a corrugated iron sliding wall. The floor consists of cast concrete, on the sides field stones show through the surface here and there.

Valuation

The HALL-HOUSE BARN is of general importance because of:

- the building type, a solitary, three-aisle peasant barn from the second half of the 19th century;

- the rural-rare, well-preserved coherence with surrounding buildings and plot layout, created because of the mill function.
