Inleiding
INCOMPLETE MOLEN. De ronde stenen molen met de naam 'De Meermin' is in 1896 gebouwd als korenmolen en heeft op dezelfde standplaats een voorganger gehad. De molen is in 1948 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap, de stelling en een deel van het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De incomplete molen heeft sindsdien geen functie meer. De incomplete molen ligt aan de rand van het buurtschap Terhofstede en heeft een grote landschappelijke betekenis.
Omschrijving
De incomplete molen bestaat uit de ronde conisch gemetselde bakstenen romp met zes bouwlagen en is voorzien van een plat dak. Op meerdere plaatsen zijn restanten van het gaande werk aanwezig. Ingemetseld is een gevelsteen met daarop aangegeven de namen van de opdrachtgevers, de bouwers en het bouwjaar. Van het gaande werk resteren de volgende onderdelen: draagbalkspil, luias met wiel en gaffelrad in opstelling, pasbalken van de beide koppels stenen en enige snaarschijven.
Waardering
De incomplete molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een ronde stenen korenmolen uit het eind van de 19e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Zeeland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;

INCOMPLETE MILL. The round stone mill with the name 'De Meermin' was built in 1896 as a grain mill and had a predecessor on the same site. The mill was dismantled in 1948, whereby the sail cross, the cap, the frame and part of the operational mechanism were removed. The incomplete mill has had no function since then. The incomplete mill is located at the edge of the hamlet Terhofstede and has great landscape significance.
Description
The incomplete mill consists of a round conically built brick shell with six storeys and is provided with a flat roof. Remnants of the operational mechanism are present in several places. Built in is a stone tablet indicating the names of the commissioners, the builders and the construction year. Of the operational mechanism the following components remain: supporting shaft spindle, main gear with wheel and bevel gear in position, main beams of both pairs of stones and some rope pulleys.
