Inleiding
Gemeenteschool in eclectische stijl, volgens gedenkstenen naast de ingang gebouwd in 1884 naar ontwerp van bouwkundige L. Kuiler.
Omschrijving
Schoolgebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, één bouwlaag en een zadeldak hoog; muurwerk opgetrokken uit rode baksteen op natuurstenen plint; natuurstenen en gele en gesmoorde bakstenen gevelbanden; uitgesmede gevelankers.
De voorgevel aan de Markt is een langsgevel met een middenrisaliet met tuitgevel en aan weerszijden twee verdiepte velden met per veld twee forse houten kozijnen met roedeverdeling. Vensters voorzien van boogtrommels met bakstenen mozaïek, natuurstenen dorpels en hoekblokjes. Langsgeveldelen afgesloten door een gemetselde tandlijst en eenvoudige bakgoot. De middenrisaliet is op de begane grond voorzien van een dubbele deur met halfrond bovenlicht met vrouwekopje als sluitsteen in de gemetselde boog.
Daarboven gevelsteen met tekst "Gemeenteschool". In de geveltop een venster met luiken en boogtrommel met gemetseld mozaïek; voorts een klimmend boogfries in de geveltop.
De zijgevels zijn puntgevels, ieder met een uitgemetselde schoorsteen, doorlopend tot boven de daklijst.
Een deel van de achtergevel wordt ingenomen door een nieuwe aanbouw, die niet voor bescherming in aanmerking komt.
Het zadeldak en het dwarskapje bij de middenrisaliet zijn gedekt met rode tuile du nord pannen. In het midden een gemetselde nokschoorsteen.
In het interieur zijn geen waardevolle zaken aanwezig.

School building on rectangular floor plan, one storey and a saddle roof high; masonry constructed of red brick on natural stone plinth; natural stone and yellow and half-brick facade bands; wrought iron facade anchors.
The front facade on the Market is a side facade with a central projection with spout gable and on either side two recessed fields with per field two substantial wooden windows with glazing bars. Windows provided with arch barrels with brick mosaic, natural stone sills and corner blocks. Side facade sections closed off by a moulded toothed frieze and simple gutter. The central projection is on the ground floor provided with a double door with semi-circular fanlight with female head as keystone in the moulded arch.
Above it a building stone with text "Municipal School". In the gable top a window with shutters and arch barrel with moulded mosaic; furthermore a climbing relieving arch in the gable top.
The side facades are pointed gables, each with an outlined chimney, running up beyond the roof edge.
Part of the rear facade is occupied by a new extension, which is not considered worthy of protection.
The saddle roof and the small transverse roof at the central projection are covered with red tuile du nord tiles. In the middle a moulded ridge chimney.
In the interior no valuable matters are present.
