Inleiding
INCOMPLETE MOLEN. De ronde stenen molen is in 1836 gebouwd als korenmolen. De molen heeft op dezelfde standplaats een voorganger gehad. De molen is in 1931 onttakeld, waarbij het gevlucht, de staart en een deel van het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De incomplete molen ligt op de oostelijke dijk van de IJssel aan de west-zuidwestkant van de bebouwde kom van Olst. Ten oosten en ten noordoosten van de incomplete molen staan twee niet beschermenswaardige voormalige bedrijfsloodsen die thans een functie hebben als woning en garage. De molen zelf heeft thans geen functie.
Omschrijving
De incomplete molen bestaat uit de ronde conisch gemetselde bakstenen romp met daarop een houten kap. De uit vier bouwlagen bestaande romp is bepleisterd. De kap kruit op een neutenkruiwerk. Op meerdere plaatsen zijn nog onderdelen van het gaande werk aanwezig. Dit betreft ondermeer het bovenwiel, vangstukken, de pal en diverse onderdelen van de voormalige graanmaalinrichting.
Waardering
De incomplete molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een ronde stenen korenmolen uit de eerste helft van de 19e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Overijssel en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende zijn ligging op de dijk naast de uiterwaard van de IJssel;
- vanwege de gaafheid van de molenbiotoop en zijn ligging aan de zuidelijke toegang tot het dorp.

Introduction
INCOMPLETE MILL. The round stone mill was built in 1836 as a grain mill. The mill had a predecessor on the same site. The mill was dismantled in 1931, whereby the sails, the tail and part of the machinery were removed. The incomplete mill stands on the eastern dike of the IJssel on the west-southwest side of the built-up area of Olst. Two non-protected former business sheds now serving as dwelling and garage stand to the east and northeast of the incomplete mill. The mill itself currently has no function.
Description
The incomplete mill consists of the round conically masonry brick body with a wooden roof on top. The body, consisting of four storeys, is plastered. The roof rests on a collar-tie framework. Machinery components are still present in several places. These include among other things the upper wheel, catches, the pawl and various components of the former grain-milling installation.
Valuation
The incomplete mill is of general interest:
- on account of constructional-historical values as a recognisable and representative relic of a round stone grain mill from the first half of the 19th century;
- on account of cultural-historical values as part of the history of the grain mills of the Netherlands and the industrial development of Overijssel and of the local history;
- on account of situational values concerning its location on the dike next to the flood plain of the IJssel;
- on account of the integrity of the mill biotope and its location at the southern entrance to the village.
