Inleiding
MOLENROMP. Deze achtkante bovenkruier is omstreeks 1635 gebouwd en was ingericht als poldermolen voor de bemaling van het Vinkeveense deel van de polder De Ronde Venen en voorzien van een inwendige molenaarswoning. De molen is omstreeks 1927 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De molenromp kreeg een functie als woning en is redelijk zichtbaar in de omgeving.
Omschrijving
Het staande werk van de molenromp bestaat uit een lage gemetselde bakstenen voet en een eikenhouten achtkant. De van twee bintlagen voorziene molenromp is ter hoogte van de begane grond bekleed met potdekselwerk van houten delen, is vanaf de duisplanken gedekt met riet en is voorzien van een puntdak dat is gedekt met dakpannen. De vroegere watertoevoer naar het scheprad is in de vorm van een overwelfde achterwaterloop nog aanwezig.
Waardering
De molenromp is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een houten achtkante poldermolen uit de eerste helft van de 17e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als essentieel onderdeel van de ontginnings- en waterstaatkundige geschiedenis van Utrecht en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de belendende waterlopen.

Introduction
MILL BODY. This octagonal top-drive mill was built circa 1635 and was fitted out as a polder mill for pumping out the Vinkeveen portion of the polder De Ronde Venen and provided with an internal miller's dwelling. The mill was dismantled circa 1927, during which the sails, cap and machinery were removed. The mill body was converted to serve as a dwelling and is reasonably visible in the surroundings.
Description
The standing framework of the mill body consists of a low mortared brick base and an oak octagon. The mill body, provided with two brace layers, is lined at the level of the ground floor with roof-tile work of wooden parts, is covered from the dust boards with thatch and is provided with a pointed roof that is covered with roof tiles. The former water supply to the scoop wheel is still present in the form of an arched back water channel.
Valuation
The mill body is of general importance:
- because of building-technical and historical values as a recognisable and representative relic of a wooden octagonal polder mill from the first half of the 17th century;
- because of cultural-historical values as an essential component of the reclamation and water management history of Utrecht and local history;
- because of situational values concerning the adjacent watercourses.
