Het complex van de Peel-Raamstelling in de gemeente Weert begint aan de Belgische grens in de zuidwesthoek. en volgt de Zuid-Willemsvaart in noordoostelijke richting. In het zuidwestelijk deel van de gemeente liggen twee defensiedijken.

Defensiedijk A betreft een van de twee dijkjes die rond het oude spaarbekken nabij Budel-Dorplein lopen.
Waardering
De defensiedijk is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is ook van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van diverse verdedigingsobjecten- en structuren inzake de nationale landsverdediging.
De defensiedijk heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel: enerzijds als onderdeel van de landsverdediging (het geheel aan stellingen aan de vooravond van de Tweede Wereldoorlog), en anderzijds als belangrijk (structurerend) onderdeel van het Peelgebied dat als militair landschap cultuurhistorisch van belang is. De defensiedijk heeft een bijzondere historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid van het gebied. De defensiedijk is in redelijk hoge mate gaaf.
