The lodging building is situated on the northeast side of the site, with its front facade facing the parade ground. The building serves as lodging space for the men. In the exterior the windows have been renewed. Additionally, there are various non-original large roof dormers in the roof panels. The small roof dormers are original. In the interior many alterations have been made. The original internal structure has been scarcely maintained. The dormitories have been replaced by bedrooms, the ceilings, doors and floors have been largely renewed. Sanitary facilities have been adapted, an emergency staircase has been installed. Still present is the two-sided ascending stone staircase and the floor on the landing of the staircase.

The front facade consists of the recessed extension on the left, and the main volume with the projecting entrance bay on the right. In the roof panel of the main volume there are two non-original roof dormers.

The right side facade has the following facade arrangement from left to right. The side facades of the projecting entrance bay on the front facade and the projection on the rear facade are blind. In both storeys there are on the left two linked windows, a centrally placed window and on the right two linked windows. Finally, there is in the side facade of the main volume in both storeys a window. In the roof panel there is a roof dormer of later date. The rear facade consists of a recessed facade section on the left and right. The window openings in the first and second storey are identical. In the main volume there is on the left on the first storey a wooden door with fanlight and on the second storey a round window. The plinth continues here in a wall. In the extension there are two by two windows. On the right in the main volume there is on the first storey a wooden door with fanlight and on the second storey a round window. Valuation

The LODGING BUILDING, component part of the Van Horne BARRACKS COMPLEX, designed by Captain of Engineers A.G. Boost, completed in 1939, is of general interest. The object possesses cultural-historical value as part of a good example of the military-historical development of the foundation of barracks in or near cities, connected with the development of the city, and as an example of the typological development of barracks. The object has situational value because of the functional-spatial relationship with the other complex components which are grouped around the central parade ground in a symmetrical layout.

Architecturally the object is of importance as a good and intact example of a design by Captain of Engineers A.G. Boost for a component of an infantry barracks with regimental staff for two battalions built in a traditionalist style with elements of sober Expressionism.
