Inleiding
DROOGSCHUUR voor uienzaad, gelegen aan de Molenweg in Sommelsdijk en gebouwd rond 1913. De schuur werd gebruikt voor het drogen van uienzaad. Door het openen van de gepotdekselde delen in de wanden kon de wind door de ruimte blazen om de zaden te drogen. De binnenzijde van de schuur is geheel betimmerd met houten planken waardoor de oorspronkelijke constructie niet meer zichtbaar is. In de eerste helft van deze eeuw stonden in de directe omgeving vijf vergelijkbare schuren, waarvan er twee bewaard zijn gebleven.
Omschrijving
Een schuur op rechthoekige plattegrond en puntgevels. De houten schuur heeft een zadeldak met grijze pannen. De wanden bestaan uit reeksen geteerde, langgerekte luiken die naar boven toe opengeklapt kunnen worden en met ijzers vastgezet kunnen worden om lucht naar binnen te laten komen voor het drogen van de zaden. In de voor- en achtergevel staan dubbele deuren. Boven deze deuren in de puntgevel aan voor- en achterkant een houten voorschot van latten en een houten luik. De linker zijgevel heeft een kleine deur en een luik vlak onder de dakrand.

SEED-DRYING BARN for onion seed, located on the Molenweg in Sommelsdijk and built around 1913. The barn was used for drying onion seed.
