Omschrijving
HISTORISCHE TUIN EN PARKAANLEG, XIXa,b; het in de landschapsstijl aangelegde park strekt zich ten zuiden en oosten van het huis uit en bestaat uit een aanééngesloten parkbos met daarnaast, langs de Didamsestraat en de Babberichseweg, een boomgaard met oude hoogstambomen en ten zuiden ervan een weiland, dat met golvende lijnen het parkbos begrenst; vanuit het noorden, vanaf de Didamsestraat, waar een oude inrijhek staat (zie onderdeel 7), loopt een niet meer gebruikte korte oprijlaan met enkele rijen eiken in een flauwe bocht naar het begrinde voorplein, dat in de oksel van het huis en het koetshuis (zie onderdeel 3) ligt; aan de westkant van deze laan loopt een brede sloot: een restant van de oude stadsgracht, die eertijds met een westelijke bocht om het huis liep en waarvan een deel van het traject nog als verdieping in het park te herkennen is; de andere oprijlaan met puinverharding en enkele rijen eiken loopt vanaf de Babberichseweg westwaarts en sluit aan op de andere laan; deze laan scheidt de boomgaard van het weiland; in de oostrand van het parkbos, langs de wei liggen achter elkaar een grote en een kleine vijver, waarvan de vorm vanwege de gedeeltelijke verlanding niet goed te herkennen is; in het park verder sporen van slingerpaden en veel monumentale oude bomen; in de zuidwesthoek van het park zijn restanten van de moestuin te herkennen, o.a. enkele oude fruitbomen en twee stukken fruitmuur (zie onderdelen 10 en 11); aan de ZW-hoek van het huis ligt een verhoogd neo-geometrisch tuintje met keermuren, opgetrokken met oude bakstenen van groot formaat:, als herinnering aan de grote 19de-eeuwse schuur, die aan het begin van de 20ste eeuw werd afgebroken. Wellicht gaat het muurwerk van het terras deels terug tot de tijd van de vierkante toren, die tot in de 19e eeuw op de zuidwesthoek van het huis stond. Het is bekend dat het park vroeger gestoffeerd was met enkele prieëlen en bruggetjes; hiervan resteert niets.

HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT, first and second half of 19th century; the park laid out in landscape style extends to the south and east of the house and consists of a continuous parkland woodland with beside it, along Didamsestraat and Babberichseweg, an orchard with old standard trees and to the south of it a meadow, which with flowing lines borders the parkland woodland; from the north, from Didamsestraat, where an old entrance gate stands (see component 7), a disused short driveway runs with several rows of oaks in a gentle curve to the gravelled forecourt, which lies in the corner between the house and the coach house (see component 3); on the west side of this lane runs a wide ditch: a remnant of the old town moat, which once ran with a western curve around the house and of which part of the course can still be recognised as a depression in the park; the other driveway with rubble surfacing and several rows of oaks runs from Babberichseweg westwards and connects to the other lane; this lane separates the orchard from the meadow; on the eastern edge of the parkland woodland, along the meadow lie one behind the other a large and a small pond, whose shape because of partial silting up is not easy to make out; in the park further traces of winding paths and many monumental old trees; in the south-west corner of the park remains of the kitchen garden can be recognised, including several old fruit trees and two sections of fruit wall (see components 10 and 11); at the SW corner of the house lies a raised neo-geometric garden with retaining walls, built with old bricks of large format, as a reminder of the large 19th-century barn, which was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century. The masonry of the terrace possibly partly dates back to the time of the square tower, which stood on the south-west corner of the house until the 19th century. It is known that the park was once furnished with several arbours and small bridges; nothing remains of these.
