Inleiding
In 1936-1938 tot stand gekomen vrijstaand SEINHUIS bij het eveneens in die jaren gebouwde Muiderpoortstation. Gelegen tussen het stationsgebouw en het viaduct en in opdracht van de N.V. Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg Mij. gebouwd naar een ontwerp van de architect H.G.J. Schelling in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen.
Omschrijving
Het seinhuis bestaat uit een hoge torenachtige schacht op rechthoekig grondplan en een uitkragende bedieningsruimte. De bovenbouw wordt gedragen door twee hoge vierkante pijlers aan de zuidzijde en door een trappenhuis met gelede glasgevels en hoge muurdammen aan de noordzijde. Aan de bovenzijde een rechthoekige en witgeschilderde opbouw met aan de lange zijde ronde en gelede vensters. Hierboven het eigenlijke seinhuis met grotendeels glazen gevelwanden met grote en gelede vensters in stalen kozijnen, waarbij de beide korte zijden zijn afgeschuind met smalle deur in het midden. Rond het seinhuis loopt een aan de korte zijden afgeronde omgang met eenvoudig hek. Het met een brede luifel uitkragende platte dak is eveneens aan de korte zijden afgerond. Het witbetegelde trappenhuis is voorzien van stalen steektrappen met buisleuningen

A detached SIGNAL BOX built in 1936-1938 at the Muiderpoortstation likewise built in those years. Located between the station building and the viaduct and built on commission of the N.V. Description
The signal box consists of a tall tower-like shaft on rectangular plan and a cantilevered operating room. The superstructure is supported by two high square pillars on the south side and by a stairwell with articulated glass facades and high wall buttresses on the north side. At the top a rectangular and white-painted structure with round and articulated windows on the long side. Above this the actual signal box with largely glazed facade walls with large and articulated windows in steel frames, whereby both short sides are chamfered with a narrow door in the middle. Around the signal box runs a passage rounded at the short sides with simple railing. The flat roof projecting with a broad eaves is likewise rounded at the short sides. The white-tiled stairwell is provided with steel step ladders with tubular handrails.

Signal box dating from 1936-1938 in new-objective manner, belonging to the Muiderpoortstation of general importance because of the architectural-historical and typological value as a characteristic example of functionalist railway architecture.
