Inleiding
Vrijstaande SCHUUR van zeer forse afmetingen. De schuur dateert uit 1863 en is opgetrokken in Ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant met streekeigen kenmerken. De schuur behoort bij een herenboerenwoonhuis en ligt aan het eind van een oprijlaan op een ruim erf met hoog opgaand geboomte in de buurtschap Zwartenberg.
Omschrijving
De schuur heeft een zadeldak met korte wolfseinden en is gedekt met rode Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel is geheel gerabat en groengeschilderd. Links en rechts dubbele deuren met gesmede gehengen. Rechts uit het midden een grote dubbele deur met smalle 12-ruits bovenlichtstrook. De linker deurvleugel is gedeeld, in de rechter een kleine deur met aan de bovenzijde gezwenkte belijning. De deuren zijn oorspronkelijk, de horizontaal gerabatte voorgevel is vernieuwd. De kap met lichte overstek heeft windveren, onder het wolfseinde met golvende belijning. De zij- en achtermuren zijn rond 1970 in machinale steen vernieuwd. De zijmuur links heeft 6 lunetvormige gietijzeren stalramen met twee roeden. De rechter zijmuur wordt verdekt door een latere aanbouw onder lessenaarsdak. De bakstenen achtergevel met staafankers is groen geschilderd en heeft een grote roldeur. Inwendig een reusachtig eiken dekbalkgebint dat de ruimte in vier beuken verdeeld. Het voorste gedeelte, dat van de rest is afgeschoten door een tussenmuur, is nog volledig intact. Het heeft een eiken gebint met pen-en-gatverbindingen, bestaande uit een middenstijl en twee zijstijlen waarop een dekbalk is opgelegd. De dekbalk is op de stijlen afgeschoord. De stijlen zijn met de voorgevel verbonden door twee zware horizontale balken. Op de dekbalk A-spanten met geschoorde spruitbalk en hanebalk. In het achterste deel van de schuur zijn de drie eiken stijlen vervangen door twee van staal.
Waardering
De vrijstaande SCHUUR is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, als voorbeeld van een vrijstaande Westbrabantse boerenschuur van zeer forse afmetingen. Het pand heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de in- en uitwendig gaaf behouden hoofdstructuur en het traditionele materiaalgebruik alsmede vanwege onderdelen van het interieur, met name de gebintconstructie, uitgevoerd als dekbalkgebint. A freestanding BARN of very substantial dimensions. The barn dates from 1863 and is constructed in traditional craftsman building style with regional characteristics. The barn belongs to a manor farmhouse and lies at the end of a drive on a spacious plot with tall mature trees in the hamlet of Zwartenberg.
Description
The barn has a gabled roof with short half-hipped ends and is covered with red Dutch tiles. The front facade is entirely rough-cast and painted green. On the left and right are double doors with wrought-iron hinges. To the right of centre is a large double door with a narrow 12-pane fanlight strip. The left door leaf is divided, in the right a small door with bevelled lines at the top. The doors are original, the horizontally rough-cast front facade has been renewed. The roof frame with light overhang has wind braces, under the half-hipped end with undulating bead. The side and rear walls were renewed in machine-made brick around 1970. The left side wall has 6 lunette-shaped cast-iron stable windows with two glazing bars. The right side wall is concealed by a later extension under a lean-to roof. The brick rear facade with staple anchors is painted green and has a large roller door. Internally a huge oak collar-tie roof truss that divides the space into four aisles. The front section, which is separated from the rest by an intermediate wall, is still completely intact. It has an oak truss with mortise-and-tenon joints, consisting of a centre post and two side posts on which a collar tie is laid. The collar tie is braced on the posts. The posts are connected to the front facade by two heavy horizontal beams. On the collar tie A-frames with braced collar and tie beam. In the rear part of the barn, the three oak posts have been replaced by two steel posts.
Valuation
The freestanding BARN is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of socio-economic development, as an example of a freestanding West Brabant farmhouse barn of very substantial dimensions. The building has architectural-historical value because of the internally and externally well-preserved main structure and traditional use of materials as well as because of components of the interior, in particular the roof truss structure, executed as a collar-tie truss. Together with the associated freestanding manor farmhouse and tall mature trees, it has ensemble value and is a significant feature of the street scene.
