Omschrijving baarhuisje
Inleiding
BAARHUISJE, gelegen op de oude algemene begraafplaats aan de westzijde van de Boschstraat op het bastion "Het Ravelijn", waar in vroeger tijden het galgenveld was. Het baarhuisje dateert vermoedelijk uit 1810 en is gebouwd in neoclassicistische stijl.
Omschrijving
In baksteen gemetseld baarhuisje van één bouwlaag op nagenoeg vierkante grondslag, onder een met gesmoorde muldenpannen gedekt lessenaarsdak. Alle gevels zijn gepleisterd. De voor-, rechter, en achtergevel zijn hoog opgetrokken, zodat het dak vanaf de begraafplaats aan het zicht onttrokken is. Deze gevels hebben hoekpilasters met schijnvoegen en worden afgesloten met een hoofdgestel met houten kroonlijst. Symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel met in het midden houten toegangsdeur met schijnpanelen, binnen zwaar geprofileerde omlijsting. Boven de deur een hardstenen plaat met tekst: "Deeze begraafplaats in 1810/aangelegd en sedert gebruikt/is in 1830 onder het bestuur/van Burgemeester O.P. Mastenbroek/tot eene begraafplaats voor/alle gezindten ingerigt/op den tegenwoordigen voet gebracht en voltooit." In de rechter zijgevel twee gietijzeren, meerruits rondboogvensters met op het porringpunt van de halve cirkel aan de bovenzijde een ronde schijf met bloemmotief. Boven de vensters een gepleisterde en geprofileerde halfronde waterlijst, die eindigt in kleine houten aanzetstukken. De linker zijgevel en achtergevel zijn blind. Het interieur is sober en bevat geen bijzondere elementen.
Waardering
Baarhuisje is van algemeen cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde:
- als representant van de funeraire geschiedenis van Zaltbommel;
- vanwege de neoclassicistische stijl, met details in pleisterwerk en gietijzeren ramen;
- vanwege de oorspronkelijke functie.

MORTUARY CHAPEL, located on the old general cemetery on the west side of the Boschstraat on the bastion "Het Ravelijn", where in former times the gallows field was. The mortuary chapel dates presumably from 1810 and is built in neoclassical style.
Description
Brick-laid mortuary chapel of one storey on an almost square ground plan, under a mansard roof covered with muffled barrel tiles. All facades are plastered. The front, right and rear facades are built up high, so that the roof is hidden from view from the cemetery. These facades have corner pilasters with false voussoirs and are finished with an entablature with wooden cornice. Symmetrically arranged front facade with in the centre a wooden entrance door with false panels, within heavily profiled surround. Above the door a hardstone plaque with text: "This cemetery laid out in 1810/and since used/was in 1830 under the administration/of Burgemeester O.P. Mastenbroek/converted to a cemetery for/all denominations arranged/brought to its present state and completed." In the right side facade two cast-iron multi-pane semicircular arch windows with at the point of the semi-circle at the top a round disc with floral motif. Above the windows a plastered and profiled semicircular drip moulding, which ends in small wooden joining pieces. The left side facade and rear facade are blank. The interior is sober and contains no special elements.
