Omschrijving
Inleiding
Verbouwd in 1958/1959.
Nokgording. Telmerk "eitjes". Datering XIXA. Hooizolders o.a. op slieten. Grupstal.
Waardering

Description
Introduction
LONG-FACADE FARMHOUSE, dating from the 19th century with side wall from the 15th/16th century. The building is constructed in a craftsman-traditional manner. It stands in isolation on a large plot with tall trees including a walnut tree and a horse chestnut. Against the side wall a pear tree and ivy. Renovated in 1958/1959. According to tradition, the building formed part of a grange of the abbey of Sint-Truiden in the Middle Ages and was property of the order of the Templars.
Description
The single-storey farmhouse on a rectangular plan is constructed above a plastered plinth from monastery bricks (26.5 x 12.5/13 x 5.5 cm), hand-moulded brickwork, IJssel stone and machine-made brick in English bond. The thatched saddle roof with half-hipped end above the agricultural section has a brick chimney on the ridge and a renewed small belfry with a cast bell (Petit, 1806, on loan from the municipality of Aalburg to replace a bell stolen in World War II) above the right gabled end. The front facade has on the far right two windows with 20-pane sash windows and a cross window with shared sash windows on either side of the mullion and a 3-pane fanlight. New door with fanlight, construction joint. Staple anchors. Above this two windows with segmental arches and each two opening 4-pane casement windows that break through the roofline and for which the thatched roof curves upward. The agricultural section on the far left was given newly constructed facades in machine-made brick around 1959 with concrete stable windows. Large double split doors with glass in upper part. The short side gavel on the right is entirely constructed from monastery bricks. The wall, as the only remaining component of the monastic grange, is the side wall of an otherwise disappeared gatehouse against which the farmhouse was built. After demolition of this building, the inner wall became an outer wall. Numerous construction marks. The outer wall had a slightly projecting plinth, covered with moulded stone, some of which is still visible. In the middle of the facade a large sealed gateway opening with stretchers. To the upper right remains of a brick cross window with moulded stones. Below it a new window with cross-glazing bars window. The X-shaped anchor is also a later addition. The short side gavel on the left, like the entire stable section, was constructed around 1959 from machine-made stone with arched 4-pane stable windows in concrete. The long rear gavel is, at the level of the residential section, constructed above a tarred plinth from monastery bricks alternating with layers of yellow IJssel stone. A new cellar window, from a concrete cellar that replaces the original, is covered with a roller shutter. Above it the upper chamber window with a 16-pane cross window with casement and opening windows, circa 1959. On the far left a renewed 20-pane sash window. Next to the upper chamber a narrow high window, next to it a kitchen door with windows in a facade renewed circa 1959. The stable projects slightly. Stable doors and concrete stable windows alternate. Long staple anchors. Stone sink.
The old interior is primarily the result of the 1958/1959 renovation. The original cellar was filled in. Above the residential section 3 traditional pine roof trusses. On the tie beam a triangular truss with collar tie. Ridge purlin. Carpenters' mark "eitjes". Dating 19th century. In the attic the former outer wall of the late-medieval gatehouse is visible with the gateway passage and the cut-in posts of disappeared extensions. In the agricultural section three anchor beam frames with bracing. At the location of the transverse section the anchor beams are doubled to allow a hay wagon to pass through. Hay lofts including on sledges. Pillared stable.
Valuation
The long-facade farmhouse is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a socio-economic development, as an example of a long-facade farmhouse that evolved from a monastic grange. The building has architectural-historical value because of its traditional use of materials as well as because of components of the interior, in particular the construction with doubled anchor beams. The building has rarity value because of the incorporation of a side wall from the 15th/16th century of an otherwise disappeared gatehouse that belonged to the grange.
