Op het erf een sluitsteen met de tekst "PH VH P.B.M. 1757".

Omschrijving

Introduction

Former SHORT-GABLE FARMHOUSE, dating from the period between the second half of the seventeenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. The building is constructed in Craft-Traditional style with regional characteristics. The building is in use as a dwelling with storage. On the lot standard fruit trees. On the lot a foundation stone with the text "PH VH P.B.M. 1757".

Description

The single-storey building on an L-shaped footprint is constructed above a plastered plinth from orange-yellow IJsselstein in English bond. The combined roof, higher above the business section than above the residential part, is covered with reed. At the location of the flue, a brick chimney with brick corner ornamentation rises high on the ridge of the residential section. The front gable has, to the left of the old front door with upper panel on consoles and fanlight (cast-iron life tree not original), a window with a nine-pane sash window and hinges. To the right of the door two identical windows. Door and windows, all of equal height, are equipped with roll mouldings. At attic level there is a relatively large asymmetrically placed nine-pane window. Under the roof slope, wattle-and-daub. Bar anchors. At the far left is a lower extension under a sloping thatched gabled roof with two modified windows with twenty-pane sash windows and bar anchors. The pointed gable on the left with wattle-and-daub terminates in a brick chimney. In the gable top at attic level on the left a small frame with continuous upper and lower threshold, on the right a six-pane window. On the ground floor at the far left and far right a narrow tall window with a ten-pane sash window. Bar anchors. The right gable has, at the location of the residential part, a window with a nine-pane sash window, then a building joint in the form of a standing tooth, after which the roof extends higher, a large twelve-pane window and a sliding door with old hinges and fasteners and sloping threshold. The double sliding doors of the cross section were replaced around 1985. At the far right another new small window and a stable door. Bar anchors. The rear gable was entirely rebuilt in 1983 using reclaimed IJsselstein. In the lower section there are two small windows with cross glazing bars. Under the half-hipped roof a frame with central mullion and two windows with cross glazing bars. Bar anchors, wattle-and-daub and drip moulding. The left side gable of the business section was replaced around 1948, including among other things two concrete six-part stable windows and two stable doors, kitchen door with glass.

The old interior of the former farmhouse has been preserved largely unchanged and recognizable. The old layout is also largely retained. Old beam ceilings with wide sections. In the extension a room with raised floor and two moulded beam consoles, circa 1650. Bed-alcoves with panel doors. Old doors with mirror clamp and old hinges and fasteners. Vaulted cellar with six stone steps and barrel-vault shaped cross-section. The much taller business section, which must be dated later than the residential part, has two roof truss pairs with double anchor beam and braces of pine wood, hewn carpenters' marks, probably from the first half of the nineteenth century. On the upper anchor beam triangular roof trusses with collar tie and main tie. Party wall with imposed beam and truss construction.

Valuation

The former short-gable farmhouse dating from the period between the second half of the seventeenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a socioeconomic development, as an example of an early short-gable farmhouse in the Land of Altena, which was successively extended. The building has architectural-historical value because of the well-preserved main structure inside and out, the picturesque composition and various components of the interior. The building has building-historical significance because of the legible development and the special double anchor beam construction. The building is character-defining for the streetscape.
