Omschrijving onderdeel 2: Historisch park
Het historische park van de buitenplaats De Kemnade wordt begrensd door de Oude IJssel en het Waalsche Water aan de noord- en oostzijde en een in de Middeleeuwen gegraven verbindingsgracht tussen beide aan de westzijde. Buiten dit 'taartpuntvormige' terrein loopt een lange, uit de 17de eeuw daterende oprijlaan weg van het huis in noordoostelijke richting, De Kemnader allee. De verbindingsbrug over de Oude IJssel, zichtbaar op de 19de-eeuwse afbeeldingen, is omstreeks 1890 afgebroken. Van het landschapspark zoals dat in de eerste decennia van de 19de eeuw is aangelegd, is de structuur goed bewaard gebleven. Het betreft een met vele slingerpaden doorsneden wandelbos ten noordwesten van het huis met een rondgaande wandeling begeleid door laanbeplanting die op verschillende momenten doorkruist wordt met gebogen paden. Tussen de hoge bomen zijn in de 19de eeuw laagblijvende bloeiende struiken gezet die voor een groot deel nog aanwezig zijn. Het karakter van het zuidelijk deel wordt bepaald door de moestuin, die aanvankelijk door een gemetselde muur was afgescheiden van de rest van het park. Het fundament van de muur is in de grond traceerbaar. Tegen de (fundamenten van de) muur staat een moerbei uit het begin van de 19de eeuw en een meidoorn uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw. De tuinmuur en de moerbei staan al afgebeeld op een schilderij uit 1811, in het bezit van de eigenaars. De toegang tot de moestuin wordt gemarkeerd door een forse eik en een es van minstens 150 jaar oud. Voor het huis staat een eveneens omstreeks 150 jaar oude magnolia.

The historic park of the country estate De Kemnade is bounded by the Oude IJssel and the Waalsche Water on the north and east sides and a connecting canal dug in the Middle Ages between the two on the west side. Outside this 'pie-slice-shaped' terrain runs a long driveway dating from the 17th century leading away from the house in a north-easterly direction, the De Kemnader allee. The connecting bridge over the Oude IJssel, visible in 19th-century images, was demolished around 1890. The structure of the landscape park as it was laid out in the first decades of the 19th century has been well preserved. It concerns a woodland walk intersected by many winding paths to the north-west of the house with a circular walk accompanied by avenue planting which is intersected at various points with curved paths. Among the tall trees, low-growing flowering shrubs were planted in the 19th century, much of which are still present. The character of the southern part is determined by the vegetable garden, which was initially separated from the rest of the park by a brick wall. The foundation of the wall is traceable in the ground. Against the (foundations of the) wall stands a mulberry tree from the early 19th century and a hawthorn from the second half of the 19th century. The garden wall and the mulberry tree are already depicted in a painting from 1811, in the possession of the owners. Access to the vegetable garden is marked by a substantial oak and an ash tree at least 150 years old. In front of the house stands a magnolia tree also approximately 150 years old.
