Inleiding
De "Lichtwachter" is aan het eind van de negentiende eeuw gebouwd als LICHTWACHTERSWONING in opdracht van Waterstaat en maakt deel uit van een complex. Bij het complex behoort tevens een misthoornhuisje. Toen het bij het restant van de haven, op het noordelijke deel (de woonterp Emmeloord) van het voormalige eiland Schokland staande pand met de inpoldering de oorspronkelijke functie verloor deed het tot 1980 nog dienst als woning en opslagruimte. Vervolgens werd het inwendig verbouwd en in gebruik genomen als groepsaccomodatie. In 1996 is het pand inwendig opnieuw gewijzigd en sindsdien functioneert het als vergaderruimte. Het interieur bevat geen bijzondere elementen meer en valt derhalve niet onder de bescherming. Het huis vormt een complex met het nabij gelegen voormalige misthoornhuisje. Tussen dit huisje en de "Lichtwachter" stond vroeger een ijzeren vuurtorentje. Deze verloor met de inpoldering zijn functie en is vervolgens afgebroken. Het gebouwtje maakt deel uit van het voormalige eiland Schokland.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond, in baksteen met gepleisterde plint opgetrokken huisje met één bouwlaag onder een met bouletpannen gedekt zadeldak met opgemetselde schoorsteen op de nok. Opnieuw gevoegd metselwerk (knipvoeg), zandstenen hoekstenen en accenten van gele verblendsteen in gevels met kruisverband. Kopgevels met geprofileerde zandstenen kraagstukken onder de uitgemetselde dakaanzetten. Symmetrische, naar de haven gekeerde oostelijke langsgevel met gietijzeren dakgoot boven de uitgemetselde gevelrand. Vier rechtgesloten, met luiken behangen vensters onder getoogde, met baksteenmozaïekjes ingevulde boogtrommels en aangesmeerde sluit- en aanzetstenen in de bogen, hardstenen onderdorpels.
Noordelijke kopgevel met een rechtgesloten, opgeklampte lattendeur met ruitvormig deurvenstertje. Op de zolderverdieping een getoogd venster met schuif-/kruisraam met een uit koppen van baksteen en gele verblendsteen bestaande band aan weerszijden. Symmetrische westgevel waarin een rechtgesloten deur onder een geprofileerd kalf en een tweeruits bovenlicht met boog en boogtrommel als die boven de vensters in de voorgevel. Aan weerszijden van de deur een met luiken behangen venster als de vensters in de voorgevel, maar met bakstenen in plaats van natuurstenen lekdorpels. Symmetrische zuidgevel met een venster met hardstenen onderdorpel als de overige op de begane grond. Zoldervenster met T-raam onder boog en boogtrommel als bij de overige vensters. Rechts in de plint een hardstenen gedenksteen waarop vermeld de waterstand 2.90 M. + A.P. op 14-1 1916.
Waardering
De lichtwachterswoning is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde, de architectuurhistorische waarde en de ensemblewaarde.

Introduction
The "Lichtwachter" was built at the end of the nineteenth century as a LIGHT KEEPER'S DWELLING on behalf of the Water Authority and forms part of a complex. The complex also includes a fog horn house. When the building, standing at the remains of the harbour on the northern part (the dwelling terp Emmeloord) of the former island Schokland, lost its original function with the reclamation, it served until 1980 as a dwelling and storage space. Subsequently it was internally rebuilt and taken into use as group accommodation. In 1996 the building was internally modified again and has since functioned as a meeting room. The interior contains no special elements and therefore does not fall under protection. The house forms a complex with the nearby former fog horn house. Between this small building and the "Lichtwachter" there once stood a small iron beacon tower. This lost its function with the reclamation and was subsequently demolished. The building forms part of the former island Schokland.
Description
Based on a rectangular plan, constructed in brick with plastered plinth, a small house with one storey under a saddle roof covered with curled clay tiles with masonry chimney on the ridge. Repointed brickwork (flush joint), sandstone corner stones and accents of yellow facing brick in gables with English bond. Gable ends with moulded sandstone corbels below the masonry gable skirts. Symmetrical, harbour-facing eastern long gable with cast-iron gutter above the masonry gable edge. Four closed rectangular windows with shutters beneath arched heads filled with brick mosaic tiles and pointed and bedded soilstone voussoirs in the arches, hardstone sills.
Northern gable end with a closed rectangular clamped timber door with diamond-patterned door window. On the upper storey an arched window with sash/cross-window with a band consisting of brick headers and yellow facing brick on either side. Symmetrical west gable containing a closed rectangular door beneath a moulded soffit and a two-pane fanlight with arch and arch drum as that above the windows in the front gable. On either side of the door a window with shutters as the windows in the front gable, but with brick instead of natural stone sills. Symmetrical south gable with a window with hardstone sill as the others on the ground floor. Upper storey window with T-window beneath arch and arch drum as at the other windows. To the right in the plint a hardstone memorial stone on which noted the water level 2.90 M. + A.P. on 14-1 1916.
