Inleiding.
KRUIS uit 1867, uitgevoerd in Neo-Gotische stijl en mogelijk afkomstig uit het atelier van G. Klep-de Bruijn te Breda. Het bevindt zich vrij centraal op de oorspronkelijk uit 1855 daterende begraafplaats ten zuidwesten van de kerk. Voor het kruis werd in 1868 f 222,83 betaald. Oorspronkelijk maakte het deel uit van een Calvarieberg.
Omschrijving .
Het object bestaat uit een frontaal gietijzeren Latijns kruis op een bolvormige sokkel met afgeplatte bovenzijde. De kruisarmen zijn ingevuld met stijlelementen die geheel aan de Neo-Gotiek zijn ontleend. De ajour bewerkte traceringen bestaan uit een aaneenschakeling van driepassen, vierpassen en meervoudig gelobde bogen. De kruisarmen eindigen in driepassen en op het snijpunt van de armen een vierpas. De voet van het kruis bestaat uit een rechthoekig tableau waarop van boven naar beneden: een zandloper, gekruiste zeisen en een doodshoofd met gekruiste beenderen, alle attributen van de dood die de kortstondigheid van het leven en het gestadig naderen van het stervensuur symboliseren. Aan weerszijden van het tableau twee voluten. Het kruis staat op een plaat die aan de voor- en achterzijde is afgezet met drie diamantvormige koppen.
Waardering.
Het kruis is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van de rooms-katholieke grafcultuur aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw. Verder vanwege het belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van gietijzeren kruisen. Het object bezit kunsthistorische waarden wegens de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp en de detaillering in de voet. Het object heeft tesamen met de overige grafmonumenten op de begraafplaats en de belendende kerk met pastorie ensemblewaarden als markant onderdeel van een historisch gegroeid religieus ensemble aan de Dorpsstraat te Wagenberg. Het object is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

On either side of the panel two volutes. The cross stands on a plate which is bordered on the front and back with three diamond-shaped heads.
Valuation.
The crucifix is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical values as a special expression of the development of Roman Catholic burial culture at the beginning of the twentieth century. Furthermore for its importance to the typological development of cast-iron crosses. The object possesses art-historical values because of the aesthetic quality of the design and the detailing in the foot. The object has, together with the other grave monuments on the cemetery and the adjoining church with presbytery, ensemble values as a distinctive component of a historically developed religious ensemble on the Dorpsstraat in Wagenberg. The object has been preserved intact.
