Inleiding
VARKENSSCHUUR, gelegen ten noordwesten van de boerderij Grote Kerkstraat 69-71 in Aalburg. De schuur in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl dateert in oorsprong wellicht nog uit de 17de of 18de eeuw, maar onderging wel enige wijzigingen.
Omschrijving
De varkensschuur bezit een rechthoekige plattegrond, een bouwlaag en een zadeldak tussen topgevels. Dit dak is gedekt met golfplaten. De gevels zijn gemetseld in oude rode handvormsteen in kruisverband (baksteenformaat 24x5- 5,5x11-12 cm, 10 lagen = 63,5 cm.) en voorzien van een gecementeerde plint. Beide kopgevels hebben bakstenen vlechtingen, rechte schouders en worden bekroond door een kleine tuit. Voorts in alle gevels eenvoudige staafankers. In de zuidelijke zijgevel bevindt zich de oorspronkelijke dwarsdeelingang met oud kozijn en dubbele houten opgeklampte deeldeur met oud hang- en sluitwerk. Rechts in deze gevel een kozijn met rollaag en gewijzigde invulling. Geheel links een niet oorspronkelijk venster. De andere lange gevel heeft drie kleine stalvensters.
In de beide kopgevels bevinden zich in de top drie gevelopeningen met rollagen aan onder- en bovenzijde. Verschillende openingen hebben opgeklampte houten luiken. Inwendige houtconstructie, bestaande uit vier trekbalken, waarvan de buitenste als strijkbalken zijn uitgevoerd. De balken worden in het midden ondersteund door houten stijlen. Voorts een eenvoudige rondhouten sporenkapconstructie. Bij de schuur een aantal oude vruchtbomen.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft als onderdeel van een gaaf boerderijcomplex buiten de bebouwde kom van Aalburg en daarmee verwijzend naar de vroegere agrarische betekenis voor dit gebied cultuurhistorische waarde. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als goed, redelijk gaaf en zeldzaam voorbeeld van een mogelijk nog wel laat 17de- of 18de-eeuwse veeschuur, van een eertijds algemeen voorkomend type, opmerkelijk door de vrij gave detaillering en de dwarsdeelingang. Het gebouw heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een harmonisch geheel, te weten een boerderijcomplex, verder bestaand uit een boerderij met dwarsdeel en een bak-/kookhuis.

PIG BARN, located to the north-west of the farmhouse Grote Kerkstraat 69-71 in Aalburg. The pig barn in Artisanal-Traditional style dates in origin possibly still from the 17th or 18th century, but did undergo some alterations.
Description
The pig barn has a rectangular floor plan, one storey and a gabled roof between gable ends. This roof is covered with corrugated iron. The facades are built in old red handmade brick in English bond (brick format 24 x 5-5.5 x 11-12 cm, 10 courses = 63.5 cm.) and provided with a cemented plinth. Both gable ends have brick braiding, straight shoulders and are crowned by a small spout gable. Furthermore in all facades simple bar anchors. In the southern long facade is situated the original cross-passage entrance with old frame and double wooden clamped half-door with old hinges and latches. To the right in this facade a frame with roller shutter and altered infill. Entirely to the left a non-original window. The other long facade has three small stable windows.
In both gable ends there are three facade openings in the gable with roller shutters at the top and bottom. Various openings have clamped wooden shutters. Internal timber construction, consisting of four tie beams, of which the outermost are executed as struts. The beams are supported in the middle by wooden posts. Furthermore a simple round-timber roof truss structure. By the barn a number of old fruit trees.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has, as part of a well-preserved farmhouse complex outside the built-up area of Aalburg and thus referring to the former agricultural significance for this area, cultural-historical value. It has architectural-historical value as a good, reasonably well-preserved and rare example of a possibly still late 17th- or 18th-century livestock barn, of a formerly common type, remarkable for the fairly well-preserved detailing and the cross-passage entrance. The building has ensemble values as an essential component of a harmonious whole, namely a farmhouse complex, further consisting of a farmhouse with cross-passage and a baking-/cooking house.
