Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS is gebouwd in Eclectische stijl in 1879 naar een ontwerp uit 1873 van architect C.P. van Genk, in opdracht van fabrikant A. Asselbergs. Het pand is gespiegeld aan dat op nummer 30. Achter het huis is in 1922 een tuinhuisje in Chaletstijl gebouwd.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaagse pand telt vier traveeën en is geplaatst onder een zadeldak parallel aan de straat met zwarte betonpannen. Profiellijsten geleden de gepleisterde gevel. De plint is van hardsteen. Naast de deur is hierin een bewerkte gietijzeren schoenschraper aangebracht. De getoogde T-vensters op de begane grond en verdieping zijn voorzien van geprofileerd stucwerk lijsten met kuiven. Dit is ook aangebracht rond de paneeldeur in de derde travee van links. Het fries met kroonlijst is voorzien van voluutconsoles en velden. De stoep is afgezet door bewerkte plaatijzeren stoeppaaltjes op een hardstenen voet verbonden door ijzeren kettingen. De kettinghouders hebben de vorm van een leeuwenkop. Rechts van de voordeur staat een vrijstaande gietijzeren schoenschraper in rustieke stijl. Het interieur bevat diverse gave bewerkte stucplafonds met bloemmotieven. De trap bezit een hoofdbaluster in de vorm van een draak met uitgewerkte kop en staart. In de badkamer zijn glas-in-loodramen geplaatst, voorzien van zeetaferelen. Het eenlaagse tuinhuis is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen met speklagen en is geplaatst onder zadeldak met steekkap, voorzien van leien. De ramen en deuren van het symmetrisch opgezette pand zijn geplaatst onder een segmentboog. De hogere steekkap van de middenrisaliet is voorzien van houten snijwerk op schoren.
Waardering
Het pand met tuinhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als beeldbepalend onderdeel van de stadsuitleg uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw en de relatie die het heeft tot de ontwikkeling en uitbreiding van de stad, het is van belang voor de ontwikkeling van de typologie van het stedelijk woonhuis in de 19de eeuw. To the right of the front door stands a freestanding cast-iron boot scraper in rustic style. The interior contains various well-preserved worked stucco ceilings with floral motifs. The staircase has a principal baluster in the form of a dragon with worked-out head and tail. In the bathroom stained-glass windows have been installed, adorned with seascapes. The single-storey garden house is built of machine-made brick with bond-courses and is placed under a gabled roof with cat-slide, provided with slates. The windows and doors of the symmetrically arranged building are placed under a segmental arch. The higher cat-slide of the central projecting element is provided with wooden carved work on corbels.
