Inleiding
Tussen kazemat 521 en 522 ligt in het Defensiekanaal een betonnen VERDEELWERK ANNEX STUW. Deze behoort tot het oorspronkelijke ontwerp van het Defensiekanaal en dateert uit 1939. Door middel van het verdeelwerk kon de hoogte van de waterstand in het Defensiekanaal worden geregeld: overtollig water werd, en wordt, in oostelijke richting naar de Raam en uiteindelijk de Maas afgevoerd.
Beschrijving.
Van de in het kanaal staande wand van de stuw resteert het betonnen casco met neerwaards gerichte ijzeren haken ter voorkoming van een infanterie-overschrijding. Ook de betonnen stuwvloer en -wanden zijn nog op hun plaats. De ijzeren schuif in de stuw is gedeeltelijk nog aanwezig.
Waardering.
Het verdeelwerk is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig van een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is van architectuur- en bouwhistorisch belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne technieken, ter aanpassing van de waterhuishouding aan militaire doelen. Het geheel heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch van belang is en is van belang wegens de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid. Het geheel heeft een grote belevingswaarde en is als grootschalig militair complex en herinnering aan een belangrijke episode uit de nationale geschiedenis zeldzaam.

Introduction
Between casemate 521 and 522 in the Defence Canal lies a concrete DISTRIBUTION STRUCTURE ANNEX SLUICE. This is part of the original design of the Defence Canal and dates from 1939. By means of the distribution structure the height of the water level in the Defence Canal could be regulated: excess water was, and is, diverted in an easterly direction towards the Raam and ultimately the Maas.
Description.
Of the sluice wall standing in the canal, the concrete shell remains with downward-facing iron hooks to prevent infantry crossing. The concrete sluice floor and walls are also still in place. The iron sluice gate in the sluice is partially still present.

The distribution structure is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a cultural and geographical development, namely the strengthening and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and as such is an important document of military history.
