Inleiding
In de bosrand aan de meest oostelijke zijde van de Vossenberg ligt als onderdeel van de gelijknamige accesverdediging, kazemat K24. De kazemat is van het type S en dateert uit 1939-1940.
Omschrijving
De kazemat is strategisch gepositioneerd aan de meest oostelijke zijde van de zandrug, bedoeld om de toegang tot de zandrug van de oostelijke zijde te belemmeren. De kazemat is gaaf en vertoont geen sporen van gevechtshandelingen.
Waardering
De kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het object is architectuur- en bouwhistorisch van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton.
