Inleiding
(WATER)POMP uit omstreeks 1700 in de traditie van de Late Barok staat temidden van een kleine geometrische tuin met buxushagen ten noordoosten van het jachthuis Ter Horst. Het wapenschild op de schacht is van mr. Frederik Sluysken, die in 1700 eigenaar werd van de buitenplaats.
Omschrijving
Op een basement met een rechthoekig grondvlak staat een zandstenen pomphuis, waarvan de schacht aan elke zijde een voorstelling heeft in haut-reliëf. De schacht wordt gedekt door een kussenblok, waarop een rijkelijk met guirlandes en vrucht- en bloemmotieven verlevendigde siervaas op een sokkel is geplaatst. De voorstelling van de schacht aan de zuidoostzijde bestaat uit een accoladeschild, omgeven door een met acanthusbladeren uitgevoerde cartouche. Van de vijf schildvelden van Frederik Sluysken is het middelste, het schildhart met het wapen van Huis ter Horst. Het wapenschild wordt bekroond door een helm met vizier met daarboven binnen een rechthoekig kader een zittende hond op een (ridderlijke ?) kroon. Aan de zuidoostzijde een reliëf met boven een guirlande een waterspuwende leeuw, voorzien van een loden kraan. Ervòòr ligt een smeedijzeren rooster, gevat in hardstenen omranding. Aan de noordwestzijde bevindt zich een smeedijzeren pompzwengel. Aan de noordoostzijde zijn een blanco ovaal schild, versierd met banderolle en een slinger met linten en strik.
Waardering
De WATERPOMP is architectuur- en cultuurhistorisch van algemeen belang als gaaf voorbeeld van een waterpomp uit ca. 1700 in de traditie van de Late Barok. De waterpomp is tuinhistorisch van belang als restant van de formele laat 17de-eeuwse/vroeg 18de-eeuwse tuinaanleg. De waterpomp heeft ensemblewaarde vanwege de ruimtelijke en functionele relatie met de overige complexonderdelen van de historische buitenplaats Ter Horst. De waterpomp met wapenschild van mr. (WATER)PUMP from around 1700 in the tradition of Late Baroque stands in the midst of a small geometric garden with box hedges to the northeast of the hunting lodge Ter Horst. The coat of arms on the shaft is that of Mr. Frederik Sluysken, who became owner of the country estate in 1700.
Description
On a basement with a rectangular ground plan stands a sandstone pump house, of which the shaft has a representation in high relief on each side. The shaft is covered by a cushion stone, upon which a decorative vase richly enlivened with garlands and fruit and flower motifs is placed on a pedestal. The representation of the shaft on the southeast side consists of an accolade shield, surrounded by a cartouche executed with acanthus leaves. Of the five shield fields of Frederik Sluysken, the middle one is the escutcheon with the coat of arms of House ter Horst. The coat of arms is topped by a helm with visor and above it within a rectangular frame a sitting dog on a (knightly?) crown. On the southeast side a relief with above a garland a water-spouting lion, fitted with a lead tap. In front of it lies a wrought iron grille, set in a hardstone surround. On the northwest side is a wrought iron pump handle. On the northeast side are a blank oval shield, decorated with banderole and a festoon with ribbons and bow.

The WATER PUMP is of general architectural and cultural-historical importance as a well-preserved example of a water pump from c. 1700 in the tradition of Late Baroque.
