Inleiding
WOONHUIS met POORTDOORGANG gebouwd 1899 in traditioneel-ambachtelijke stijl met invloeden van neo-classicisme naar ontwerp van architect Jan Hendrik Verweij uit Gorinchem. De poort fungeert als doorgang naar de achtergelegen Lutherse kerk (rijksmonumentnummer 16640).
Omschrijving Het drie traveeën brede WOONHUIS bestaat uit drie bouwlagen, waarvan de begane grond wordt gevormd door de POORT die toegang verleend tot het achtergelegen kerkgebouw. De voorgevel is opgetrokken uit rode baksteen met spekbanden en diamantkoppen in zandsteen, afgesloten door witgepleisterde eenvoudige kroonlijst. De begane grond is gepleisterd, bestaande uit drie bogen met profiellijsten, De middelste boog met ijzeren openslaand hek, beide buitenste bogen met houten deur met profiellijsten en met rondboog-bovenlicht. Tussen de bogen eenvoudige pilasters.
De achtergevel is eenvoudige topgevel in rode baksteen met een één travee brede uitbouw naar achteren over twee lagen onder een plat dak.
In de gevel bevinden zich T-ruit schuifvensters. In achtergevel één ijzeren rondboogvenster.

Introduction
DWELLING with CARRIAGE GATEWAY built 1899 in traditional-craft style with influences of neo-classicism according to a design by architect Jan Hendrik Verweij from Gorinchem. The gateway serves as a passage to the rear-situated Lutheran church (national monument number 16640).
Description The three-bay-wide DWELLING consists of three storeys, of which the ground floor is formed by the GATEWAY which provides access to the rear church building. The front facade is erected in red brick with decorative bands and diamond points in sandstone, terminated by a white-plastered simple cornice. The ground floor is plastered, consisting of three arches with moulded profiles. The central arch with an iron hinged grille, both outer arches with wooden door with moulded profiles and with round-arch fanlight. Between the arches simple pilasters.
The rear facade is a simple gable facade in red brick with a one-bay-wide extension to the rear over two storeys under a flat roof.
In the facade are located T-light sash windows. In rear facade one iron round-arch window.
