Inleiding
WOONHUIS gebouwd in 1910 als woning voor brug- en sluispersoneel bij de Oude Merwedesluis in de Lingehaven. Het ontwerp in Neo-Renaissancestijl kwam van de Rijkswaterstaat, 10e directie, noordelijk arrondissement onder leiding van ir. Adrianus Antoni Henri Willem König. Het pand staat aan de westelijke kant van de Lingehaven, direct aan het water, naast de brug en vormt de beëindiging van een gesloten gevelwand. Het pand ligt in het beschermde gezicht van Gorinchem.
Omschrijving
Hoog opgetrokken pand op een rechthoekige grondslag in grauwe baksteen bestaande uit twee bouwlagen en een zolder onder een met rode Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak. De zuidelijke gevel is de straatgevel waarin de entree geplaatst is. De beide kopse gevels zijn trapgevels waarvan de linker (west) direct tegen het buurpand geplaatst is en de rechter gevel een onderverdieping aan het water heeft. De achtergevel is grotendeels blind en gaat voor het merendeel schuil achter de buurpanden aan de Langendijk. De gevels zijn horizontaal geleed door middel van speklagen, tussen de bouwlagen zijn muurankers aangebracht. Het pand heeft kruisvensters met luiken voor de onderramen en een roedenverdeling in de bovenramen. Boven de muuropeningen bevinden zich korfbogen met zandstenen aanzet-, sluitstenen en blokjes. De boogtrommels zijn gevuld met siermetselwerk. Voorgevel (zuid) met centraal geplaatste entree onder een meerruits bovenlicht. Aan weerszijden een venster. Op de verdieping twee vensters. Centraal boven de gevel een door de daklijn lopende dakkapel met trapgevel onder een steekkap. De dakkapel heeft een venster.
De oostelijke gevel aan het water is een trapgevel en heeft een gepleisterde onderverdieping met twee keer twee gekoppelde vierruits keldervensters. Ter plaatse van de begane grond en de verdieping twee vensters, de zolderverdieping heeft één venster. Tussen de vensters op de eerste verdieping is een gevelsteen uit 1664 geplaatst. Aan weerszijden van het zolderraam bevinden zich gevelstenen met in haut-relëf "Anno" en "1910".

DWELLING HOUSE built in 1910 as a residence for bridge and lock staff at the Oude Merwedesluis on the Lingehaven. The design in Neo-Renaissance style came from the Rijkswaterstaat, 10th directorate, northern arrondissement under the direction of engineer Adrianus Antoni Henri Willem König. The building stands on the western side of the Lingehaven, directly on the water, next to the bridge and forms the termination of a closed facade wall. The building is located within the protected townscape of Gorinchem.
Description
Tall building on a rectangular footprint in grey brick consisting of two storeys and an attic under a gabled roof covered with red Dutch tiles. The southern facade is the street facade in which the entrance is placed. Both gable ends are stepped gables of which the left (west) is placed directly against the neighbouring building and the right facade has a lower storey on the water. The rear facade is largely blank and is for the most part hidden behind neighbouring buildings on the Langendijk. The facades are horizontally articulated by means of brick-and-stone patterns, between the storeys wall anchors have been inserted. The building has cross windows with shutters for the lower panes and glazing bars in the upper panes. Above the wall openings are basket-arch bricks with sandstone springers, keystones and blocks. The arch soffits are filled with decorative brickwork. Front facade (south) with centrally positioned entrance beneath a multi-pane fanlight. On either side a window. On the first floor two windows.
