Inleiding
WINKEL/BEDRIJFSPAND uit omstreeks 1885 met winkelpui in neorenaissancestijl. Sinds omstreeks 1920 heeft het gebouw gefungeerd als snoepfabriek van de Firma Bots, die tot die tijd op het achtererf van Dorpsstraat 121 was gevestigd. Tot 1975 heeft het bedrijf als zodanig gefunctioneerd en werd snoep gefabriceerd voor de supermarktketen van Simon de Wit.
Omschrijving
Langgerekt, uit twee bouwdelen bestaand vrijstaande pand bestaande uit een voorste deel met winkelpui en een achterste deel. Het voorste bouwvolume heeft een begane grond en een zolder onder een mansardedak waarvan één schild gedekt is met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen en het ander met gesmoorde platte Friese pannen; de noklijn staat haaks op de straat. Het is opgetrokken uit grauwe baksteen (fijngevoegd kruisverband), waarbij de vensters en blindnissen worden gedekt door strekken. De plint is gepleisterd, terwijl voor neuten en lekdorpels hardsteen is gebruikt. De voorgevel is een symmetrisch ingedeelde lijstgevel met over de volle gevelbreedte een houten winkelpui geleed door pilasters met verdiepte velden en corintische kapitelen, die een hoofdgestel dragen. In het midden bevindt zich een dubbele tweeruits paneeldeur met bovenlicht, geflankeerd door pilasters. Aan weerszijden hiervan bestaan de gedeeltelijk afgetimmerde etalages uit zesruits benedenramen en drieruitsbovenlichten. Op de verdieping bevindt zich in het midden een zesruits schuifraam met aan weerszijden een blindnis. Rechts van de voorgevel een houten poort met dubbele deur en een latei in de vorm van een architraaf met guttae.
In de linker zijgevel bevinden zich enkele vensteropeningen, waaronder een negenruitsschuifraam en in de rechter onder meer een deur.
Het aansluitende achterste bouwvolume wordt overkapt door een met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak.
In het INTERIEUR bevinden zich onder meer een stookplaats en dubbele rails die een functie hadden in het proces van snoepfabricage.
Waardering
Het pand is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde
-als representatief voorbeeld van een niet-stedelijk winkel/bedrijfspand met een neorenaissance winkelpui uit het laatste kwart van de negentiende eeuw;
- vanwege de rol die het pand heeft gespeeld in de sociaal-economische historische ontwikkeling van Nieuwkoop.
- als een bijzonder en vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van een huis dat aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw is ingericht voor de fabricage van snoep en enkele decennia als bescheiden snoepfabriek heeft gedraaid;

SHOP/COMMERCIAL BUILDING from circa 1885 with a shopfront in neo-Renaissance style. Since circa 1920 the building has served as a sweet factory of the Bots company, which until that time was located on the rear grounds of Dorpsstraat 121. Until 1975 the business operated as such and manufactured sweets for the supermarket chain of Simon de Wit.
Description
An elongated, detached building consisting of two building sections with a front section featuring a shopfront and a rear section. The front building volume has a ground floor and an attic under a mansard roof, one hipped slope of which is covered with bonded Dutch tiles and the other with bonded flat Frisian tiles; the ridge line runs perpendicular to the street. It is built of grey brickwork (finely jointed Flemish bond), with windows and blind niches spanned by brick arches. The plinth is plastered, while hard stone is used for sills and drip mouldings. The front facade is a symmetrically arranged cornice-topped facade with across the full width of the facade a wooden shopfront articulated by pilasters with recessed fields and Corinthian capitals, which carry an entablature. In the middle is a double two-pane panelled door with fanlight, flanked by pilasters. On either side of this the partially boarded-up shop windows consist of six-pane lower windows and three-pane fanlights. On the upper storey in the middle is a six-pane sash window with on either side a blind niche. To the right of the front facade a wooden gate with double door and a lintel in the form of an architrave with guttae.
In the left side facade there are several window openings, including a nine-pane sash window and in the right side among others a door.
The adjoining rear building volume is covered by a saddle roof covered with bonded Dutch tiles.
In the INTERIOR there are among other things a heating place and double rails which had a function in the sweet manufacturing process.
Valuation
The building is of general importance:
- for its architectural and cultural-historical value
- as a representative example of a non-urban shop/commercial building with a neo-Renaissance shopfront from the last quarter of the nineteenth century;
- for the role the building has played in the socio-economic historical development of Nieuwkoop.
- as a particular and fairly rare example of a building which at the beginning of the twentieth century was fitted out for sweet manufacture and operated as a modest sweet factory for several decades;
- for its functional, visual and cultural-historical relationship with Dorpsstraat 78, 80, 82 and 121.
- for its urban design importance in that as a sluice complex it partly determines the entrance to the village centre of Nieuwkoop.
