Inleiding

- vanwege bouwtechnisch historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een houten achtkante korenmolen uit het begin van de 20e eeuw;

- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Noord-Holland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;

- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de historische gaafheid van de omgeving;

- vanwege de gaafheid van de molenbiotoop;

Introduction

MILL HULL WITH STOREHOUSE. The octagonal top-drive mill is built as a grain mill in 1907. The mill has had a predecessor on the same site. For the construction of the present mill, the pelican mill 'Het Wapen van Friesland' demolished in Zaandam was used. The mill was dismantled around 1920, whereby the sails, the cap, the hull up to the lowest bind layer of the upper octagon, the staging and the working parts were removed. The mill hull is situated on the north side of the Vaart at the eastern edge of Barsingerhorn and in an open environment. It has considerable landscape significance.

Description

The mill hull consists of the octagonal brick-built stone base, with a wooden lower octagon and the remainder of the wooden upper octagon up to the lowest bind layer. The mill hull, consisting of three storeys, is clad with wood from the stone base to the shuttering boards, is now covered with roof tiles from the shuttering boards and provided with a flat roof.

Valuation

The mill hull with storehouse is of general importance:

- because of construction-historical values as a recognisable and representative relic of a wooden octagonal grain mill from the beginning of the 20th century;

- because of cultural-historical values as part of the history of grain mills in the Netherlands and the industrial development of North Holland and local history;

- because of situational values concerning the historical integrity of the surroundings;

- because of the integrity of the mill biotope;

- because of the particularity of the secondary components originating from the Zaanstreek region.
