DUBBEL WOONHUIS uit 1921 genaamd "De Blokhut" (no. 40) en "The Snug" (no. 42), deel uitmakend van het complex "Dudokhuizen" aan de Godelindeweg.
Omschrijving
Op onregelmatig grondplan gebouwd dubbel woonhuis van twee bouwlagen onder een samengesteld rieten dak met overstek. De gevels zijn boven een gemetselde plint afwisselend opgebouwd uit zwartgeteerde gepotdekselde delen en wit geschilderde horizontale en vertikale houten delen, die deels zijn afgetimmerd met plaatmateriaal. In het rechter deel van de voorgevel (N) van no. 40 op de begane grond drie liggende vensters waarboven de iets overstekende verdiepingslaag is voorzien van twee liggende vensters waartussen een klein (staand) venster. Het terugliggende linker deel van de voorgevel bevat bovenin een tweeruits liggend venster waaronder aansluitend een hoog vijfruits venster. Rechts van deze hoekpartij is de gevelsprong voorzien van één begane-grondvenster en twee smallere verdiepingsvensters. Tegen de linkerzijgevel (O) is over de volle breedte een L-vormige uitbouw opgetrokken van één bouwlaag onder twee evenwijdige rietgedekte schilddaken haaks op de linkerzijgevel. De linker helft van de oostgevel heeft een uitbouw van geringe diepte onder een in het hoofddak insnijdend schilddak. In de voorzijde van de uitbouw twee tweeruits liggende vensters, in de smalle linkerzijde een klein raam, en in de schuine rechterzijde een samengesteld venster. Met uitzondering van de schuine rechterzijde is de uitbouw tot aan de vensters bekleed met potdekselwerk van brede zwartgeteerde delen. Rechtsboven in de linkerzijgevel bevindt zich een tweeruits liggend venster. Zowel de rechter helft als de sterker risalerende linker helft van de L-vormige uitbouw tegen de linkerzijgevel heeft in de oostgevel een deur. In de zuidgevel van de uitbouw bevindt zich links een derde deur, in de noordgevel linksboven een tweeruits liggend venster. De linker helft van de uitbouw is boven de zwartgeteerde gepotdekselde delen samengesteld uit liggende delen.
In het midden van de symmetrisch opgezette achtergevel (Z) bevindt zich een dubbele glasdeur, geflankeerd door twee vensters. De iets overstekende verdiepingslaag telt vijf vensters. Halverwege het achterschild staat een rietgedekte dakkapel met liggend raam. Aan de voorgevel (N) van no. 42 een L-vormige uitbouw onder schilddak met vensterstroken voorzien van zesruitsvensters. Links van de uitbouw in de voorgevel op begane grond en verdieping stolpvensters met horizontale roedenverdeling. Onder de steekkap rechts een horizontale vensterstrook met twee tweeruits vensters die om de hoek in de westgevel eindigt in een staand drieruits venster. De entree bevindt zich in het lage gedeelte van de westgevel met rechts daarvan drie zesruits ramen. Een grote gemetselde schoorsteen deelt de westgevel in tweeen en rechts daarvan bevindt zich een aankapping onder rietgedekt lessenaardakje. In de achtergevel op de begane grond zesruits vensters en rechts een uitbouw onder balkon.
Waardering
Het dubbele woonhuis uit 1921 is als onderdeel van het complex "Dudokhuizen" van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een blok middenstandswoningen uit het vroege oeuvre van W.M. Dudok. Kenmerkend zijn de in- en uitspringende bouwvolumes en het spel van horizontalen en vertikalen in materiaalgebruik en detaillering. Het woonhuis heeft grote situationele waarde vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging als onderdeel van het ensemble langs de Godelindeweg tegenover de vesting Naarden.

Description
Double dwelling built on an irregular ground plan of two storeys under a composite thatched roof with overhang. The facades above a masonry plinth are built alternately from black-tarred pantile-clad sections and white-painted horizontal and vertical wooden sections, some of which are clad with sheet material. In the right part of the front facade (N) of no. 40 on the ground floor three horizontal windows above which the slightly overhanging storey is provided with two horizontal windows with a small (vertical) window between them. The recessed left part of the front facade contains at the top a two-pane horizontal window below which connects a tall five-pane window. To the right of this corner section the facade offset is provided with one ground-floor window and two narrower storey windows. Against the left side facade (E) an L-shaped extension is built over the full width of one storey under two parallel thatch-clad hipped roofs at right angles to the left side facade. The left half of the east facade has an extension of slight depth under a hipped roof cutting into the main roof. In the front of the extension two two-pane horizontal windows, on the narrow left side a small window, and on the sloping right side a composite window. With the exception of the sloping right side the extension is clad up to the windows with pantile work of broad black-tarred sections. Upper right in the left side facade is a two-pane horizontal window. Both the right half and the more pronounced projecting left half of the L-shaped extension against the left side facade have a door in the east facade. In the south facade of the extension a third door is on the left, in the north facade a two-pane horizontal window upper left. The left half of the extension above the black-tarred pantile-clad sections is composed of horizontal sections.
In the centre of the symmetrically arranged rear facade (S) is a double glass door, flanked by two windows. The slightly overhanging storey has five windows. Halfway up the rear slope is a thatch-clad roof dormer with a horizontal window. At the front facade (N) of no. 42 an L-shaped extension under hipped roof with window strips provided with six-pane windows. To the left of the extension in the front facade on ground floor and storey canted windows with horizontal glazing bars. Under the catslide roof on the right a horizontal window strip with two two-pane windows ending round the corner in the west facade in a vertical three-pane window. The entrance is located in the low section of the west facade with three six-pane windows to the right of it. A large masonry chimney divides the west facade in two and to the right of it is a lean-to structure under a thatch-clad lean-to roof. In the rear facade on the ground floor six-pane windows and on the right an extension under a balcony.
Valuation
The double dwelling from 1921 is as part of the complex "Dudokhuizen" of general importance because of its architectural and cultural historical value as a representative example of a block of middle-class dwellings from the early work of W.M. Dudok. Characteristic are the projecting and recessed building volumes and the interplay of horizontals and verticals in material use and detailing. The dwelling has great situational value because of its prominent location as part of the ensemble along the Godelindeweg opposite the fortress Naarden.
