Inleiding
Huis 'D'Eekhorst' van het type VILLA gebouwd in 1906 naar ontwerp van de kunstenaar/graficus W.O.J. NIEUWENKAMP (1874-1950) in opdracht van notaris G.J. Wilbrink uit Lunteren.
Het huis is gebouwd in een traditionalistische bouwstijl gebaseerd op de Kaapse bouwkunst. De Kaapse bouwkunst is gebaseerd op de door de Nederlanders in de zeventiende eeuw naar Zuid-Afrika gebrachte bouwstijl die opnieuw populariteit genoot rond 1900. Het huis is gesitueerd aan de oostzijde van de Dorpsstraat binnen de bebouwde kom van Lunteren binnen de gemeente Ede.
Omschrijving
Het landhuis met rechthoekige plattegrond bestaat uit één bouwlaag en een zolder, afgesloten door een zadeldak gedekt met rode geglazuurde tuiles du Nord. Op de nok bevinden zich twee vierkante, bakstenen schoorsteenschachten. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in rode baksteen in kruisverband. De linkerzijgevel eindigt in een Gelderse gevel, de rechterzijgevel met serre eindigt in een topgevel met gesneden windveren. In de voor- en achtergevel wordt de bakgoot onderbroken vanwege een Vlaamse halsgevel met achterliggend aangekapt zadeldak. De entree bevindt zich in de witgepleisterde voorgevel. In de gevels bevinden zich voornamelijk meerruits schuiframen aan de boven- en onderzijde afgesloten door een bredere boven- en onderdorpel met een aansluitende strekse rollaag met rood geschilderd voegwerk. De schuiframen schuiven met name naar boven, in ruimtes tussen de muren. In de woonkamer schuiven de ramen naar links en naar rechts. De vensters op de begane grond worden aan weerszijden geflankeerd door houten luiken. Enkele vensters en de hoofdingang zijn voorzien van een bovenlicht. De wit gepleisterde VOORGEVEL is voorzien van een trasraam in schoon metselwerk met rood gekleurde voeg. De ingangspartij, links van het midden, bestaat uit een tweedelige rondboogvormige paneeldeur met tien-ruits bovenlicht aan weerszijden geflankeerd door acht-ruits zijlichten. In de zwikken is het jaartal '19 / 06' geschilderd. Zowel de zijlichten als het bovenlicht worden afgesloten door een overstekende latei en een strekse rollaag. De ingangspartij wordt benadrukt door een Vlaamse halsgevel die eindigt in een rondboog van schoon metselwerk met schouderstukken afgedekt met natuursteen. In de Vlaamse halsgevel bevindt zich een zestien-ruits raam met daarboven de naam `D'EEK/HORST' tezamen met de afbeelding van een boom. In de rondboog bevindt zich een decoratief smeedijzeren muuranker. Links van de ingangspartij bevindt zich een zestien-ruits schuifraam. Rechts van de entree bevinden zich twee gekoppelde zestien-ruits schuiframen. Onder de bakgoot met klossen bevinden zich op regelmatige afstand Y-vormige sierankers. Uiterst links tegen de LINKERZIJGEVEL met in- en uitgezwenkte toppen bevindt zich de zijgevel van een aanbouw tegen de achtergevel. Hier bevindt zich een deur als in de voorgevel. De deur wordt aan de linkerzijde geflankeerd door een meerruits zijlicht. Rechts van de entree bevinden zich twee gekoppelde meerruits schuiframen met meerruits ramen in de bovenlichten. Uiterst rechts op de begane grond bevindt zich een meerruits schuifraam. Op de verdieping bevinden zich twee gekoppelde meerruits ramen. In de top bevindt zich een rondvenster.
In de ACHTERGEVEL bevindt zich een identieke Vlaamse halsgevel in schoon metselwerk. Op de begane grond bevindt zich een zestien-ruits schuifraam met acht-ruits bovenlicht gevolgd door een klein meerruits venster voorzien van diefijzers en een enkele tuindeur ter vervanging van een venster. Uiterst rechts bevindt zich de aanbouw onder een lessenaarsdak met een rechthoekige opgeklampte deur aan de voorzijde.
Tegen de RECHTERZIJGEVEL bevindt zich een niet oorspronkelijke serre, die zich aan de voorzijde bevond. De serre bestaat uit een bakstenen fundament met twee gekoppelde meerruits ramen en bovenlichten aan de linker- en rechterzijde. Aan de voorzijde bevinden zich deuren met meerruits glasindeling aan weerszijden geflankeerd door een meerruits raam met bovenlicht. De serre wordt afgesloten door een plat dak. Rechts van de serre bevindt zich een niet oorspronkelijke deur met acht-ruits bovenlicht. Het bovenlicht wordt aan weerszijden geflankeerd door een vier-ruits raam. Ter hoogte van de zolder bevinden zich twee gekoppelde meerruits ramen met in de geveltop een rondvenster. De gevel wordt beëindigd door een overstekend zadeldak met gesneden windveren.
Het INTERIEUR is grotendeels in oorspronkelijke staat bewaard gebleven. In het interieur bevinden zich onder meer paneeldeuren voorzien van accoladebogen, een houten trap, betegelde lambrizeringen, een oorspronkelijke haardpartij en een houten geprofileerde lambrizering.

The country house with rectangular ground plan consists of one storey and an attic, enclosed by a gabled roof covered with red glazed tuiles du Nord. On the ridge are two square brick chimney stacks. The façades are constructed in red brick in Flemish bond. The left side façade ends in a Gelderland gable, the right side façade with conservatory ends in a gable top with carved wind braces. In the front and rear façade the rainwater gutter is interrupted by a Flemish neck gable with an underlying attached gabled roof. The entrance is situated in the whitewashed front façade. The façades contain principally multi-pane sash windows at the top and bottom closed by a wider top and bottom sill with an adjoining stretcher course with red painted mortar joints. The sash windows slide especially upwards, in spaces between the walls. In the living room the windows slide to left and right. The windows on the ground floor are flanked on both sides by timber shutters. Some windows and the main entrance are provided with a fanlight. The whitewashed FRONT FAÇADE is provided with a masonry window in fair-faced brickwork with red-coloured mortar joints. The entrance section, left of centre, consists of a two-part round arch panel door with ten-pane fanlight flanked on both sides by eight-pane side lights. In the spandrels is painted the year '19 / 06'. Both the side lights and the fanlight are closed by an overhanging lintel and a stretcher course. The entrance section is emphasized by a Flemish neck gable which ends in a round arch of fair-faced brickwork with shoulder pieces capped with natural stone. In the Flemish neck gable is a sixteen-pane window with above it the name 'D'EEK/HORST' together with the image of a tree. In the round arch is a decorative wrought iron wall anchor. Left of the entrance section is a sixteen-pane sash window. Right of the entrance are two paired sixteen-pane sash windows. Under the rainwater gutter with blocks are at regular intervals Y-shaped ornamental wall anchors. On the far left against the LEFT SIDE FAÇADE with inset and projecting tops is the side façade of an extension against the rear façade. Here is a door as in the front façade. The door is flanked on the left side by a multi-pane side light. Right of the entrance are two paired multi-pane sash windows with multi-pane windows in the fanlights. In the REAR FAÇADE is an identical Flemish neck gable in fair-faced brickwork. On the ground floor is a sixteen-pane sash window with eight-pane fanlight followed by a small multi-pane window provided with security bars and a single garden door replacing a window. On the far right is the extension under a catslide roof with a rectangular clamped door at the front.
Against the RIGHT SIDE FAÇADE is a non-original conservatory, which was located at the front. The conservatory consists of a brick foundation with two paired multi-pane windows and fanlights on the left and right sides. At the front are doors with multi-pane glazing pattern flanked on both sides by a multi-pane window with fanlight. The conservatory is enclosed by a flat roof. Right of the conservatory is a non-original door with eight-pane fanlight. The fanlight is flanked on both sides by a four-pane window. At the level of the attic are two paired multi-pane windows with in the gable top a round window. The façade is terminated by an overhanging gabled roof with carved wind braces.
The INTERIOR has been largely preserved in its original state. In the interior are among others panel doors provided with arch braces, a timber staircase, tiled wainscotting, an original fireplace section and timber profiled wainscotting.
