Voormalig MANSCHAPPENGEBOUW B-3, deel uitmakend van het KAZERNECOMPLEX het BURMANIAKAMP. Gebouw, gelegen ten zuiden van de ingangspartij. Oorspronkelijk twee gebouwen, de een op een T-vormige de andere op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Door een uitbreiding van 1952 in aangepaste stijl zijn het zuidelijke van de poortgebouwen en de daarachter gelegen barak met elkaar verbonden en is het geheel aan de noordzijde met een houten element uitgebreid. In het aldus verbouwde dubbele manschappengebouw kwam toen de officiersmess met keuken, bar en toiletblok. In het midden van de zuidzijde is een in stijl passende lichtpui met openslaande deuren bij het terras gekomen; iets oostelijker is aan die zijde het manschappengebouw B-4 aan dit gebouw verbonden.
Op een iets terugwijkend trasraam van enkele metsellagen zijn massieve, 55 cm dikke muren opgetrokken van gemêleerde roodbruine baksteen. Na de ruim een meter hoge borstwering volgen de vensterpartijen, gevat in een vakwerk-motief van kunststeen waarin het metselwerk is verlevendigd door uitspringende koppen van gesinterde baksteen in verschillende patronen. Het daglicht valt binnen door hooggeplaatste vensterpartijen die uit twee of drie twaalfruitsramen of uit twee zesruitsramen zijn samengesteld. Deels kunnen ze als tuimelraam worden geopend. Op enkele plaatsen zijn de vensters lager doorgetrokken; waarschijnlijk het resultaat van de latere verbouw. De hoeken bezitten versieringen van kunststenen 'stijlen'; de bakgoten worden hier ondersteund door console-achtige uitkragingen.
De (westelijke) voorzijde bezit een samengesteld zadeldak op topgevels. De toppen zijn van beitelingen voorzien en zijn geopend met rondlichten met decoratieve neggen. De achterzijde kreeg een schilddak met een flauwe en licht geknikte helling en een flinke overstek. De dakschilden zijn gedekt met gemêleerde, roodbruin geglazuurde, verbeterde Hollandse golfpannen. Op het element dat de voormalige afzonderlijke gebouwen verbindt is een grote keukenschoorsteen uitgebouwd. Op het dak staan kapellen onder afzaatdakjes. Alle daklichten zijn loos: de kapruimten kunnen door de gesloten betonnen vloeren nauwelijks worden benut.
Door de verbouw waarbij de manschappengebouwen zijn gekoppeld en in officiersmess met keuken, bar en toiletblok zijn gewijzigd heeft het gebouw een geheel nieuwe indeling gekregen.
WAARDERING
Het manschappengebouw B-3 is van groot algemeen historisch, stedenbouwkundig en architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege
- de tastbare geschiedenis van de bezettingstijd 1940-'45 die het gebouw in samenhang met de andere gebouwen van het complex uitdrukt, waarbij de aanzienlijke verbouwingen voor de nieuwe functie nauwelijks storen;
- de kenmerkende en nagenoeg gave architectuur, onder meer met vakwerkwanden, die overeenkomt met de architectuur van de Noordduitse laagvlakte;
- de levendige ruimtelijke situering en geleding van het voormalige manschappengebouw dat op camouflage-gronden als element in een tuinwijkje in een groene beplanting is geplaatst.

Former ENLISTED MEN'S BUILDING B-3, part of the BARRACKS COMPLEX the BURMANIAKAMP. Building located south of the entrance section. Originally two buildings, one on a T-shaped, the other on a rectangular floor plan. By an extension of 1952 in adapted style, the southern of the gate buildings and the barracks behind it have been connected and the whole has been extended to the north with a timber element. In the thus renovated double enlisted men's building came then the officers' mess with kitchen, bar and toilet block. In the middle of the south side, a stylistically appropriate glazed wall with opening doors to the terrace has been added; somewhat to the east on that side the enlisted men's building B-4 has been connected to this building.
On a slightly recessed foundation of a few courses of brickwork, massive walls 55 cm thick are constructed of variegated reddish-brown baked brick. After the parapet over one metre high follow the window sections, set within a timber-framed motif of artificial stone in which the brickwork is enlivened by protruding headers of sintered brick in various patterns. Daylight enters through high-placed window sections composed of two or three twelve-light casements or two six-light casements. They can partly be opened as tilt windows. In some places the windows are extended lower; probably the result of the later renovation. The corners have ornamental artificial stone 'pilasters'; the gutters are supported here by console-like projections.
The (western) front has a compound gabled roof with stepped gables. The tops are provided with coping stones and are opened with circular lights with decorative mouldings. The rear received a hipped roof with a shallow and slightly bent slope and considerable overhang. The roof panels are covered with variegated, reddish-brown glazed, improved Dutch roof tiles. On the element connecting the former separate buildings, a large kitchen chimney has been built. On the roof stand roof lights under small pitched roofs. All roof lights are non-opening: the attic spaces can scarcely be used through the closed concrete ceilings.
Through the renovation whereby the enlisted men's buildings have been coupled and converted into an officers' mess with kitchen, bar and toilet block, the building has received a completely new layout.
VALUATION
The enlisted men's building B-3 is of great general historical, urban planning and architectural historical importance because of
- the tangible history of the occupation period 1940-'45 which the building expresses in coherence with the other buildings of the complex, whereby the considerable renovations for the new function scarcely detract;
- the characteristic and nearly intact architecture, including timber-framed walls, which corresponds with the architecture of the North German lowlands;
- the lively spatial siting and articulation of the former enlisted men's building which, for camouflage reasons, is placed as an element in a garden suburb in green planting.
