Inleiding
Huis `Duistervoorde' van het type VILLA waarvan het huidige aanzien dateert uit 1864. In 1864 is het huis voor een deel afgebroken en vervolgens herbouwd in opdracht van Johan Hendrik Timme in eclectische bouwtrant met Italiaanse, neo-tudor en neo-classicistische elementen. Van oorsprong bevond zich op deze plek een laat middeleeuws kasteel dat onder andere in 1612 en 1641 verbouwd is geweest. In 1878 is het perceel met daarop het huis gekocht door het r.-k. kerkbestuur te Twello waarna het in 1890 is ingericht tot een klooster `het Sint-Anthonius Gesticht' voor de zusters van de Liefde uit Schijndel. Vanaf 1967 is het huis particulier bewoond.
Omschrijving
Huis `Duistervoorde' van het type VILLA met L-vormig grondplan bestaande uit twee bouwlagen, een souterrain en een mezzanino afgesloten door een flauw hellend zinken velsdak met klokkenstoel. De klokkenstoel heeft aan iedere zijde een rondboogvormige opening afgesloten door een eenvoudig hoofdgestel met flauw hellend zadeldak. De gepleisterde gevels zijn grotendeels voorzien van schijnvoegen in natuursteen imitatie. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een glad gepleisterd fries met consoles ter ondersteuning van de geprofileerde bakgoot. Op de scheiding van de bouwlagen bevindt zich een geprofileerde waterlijst. In de gevels bevinden zich grotendeels segmentboogvormige zes-ruits schuiframen. Aan de onderzijde worden de vensters afgesloten door de waterlijst en op de begane grond aan de bovenzijde door een gestucte schouderboog. De symmetrische VOORGEVEL bestaat uit drie traveeën. De glad gepleisterde middentravee bestaat uit twee vensterassen met op de begane grond een hardstenen bordestrap met vier gietijzeren zuiltjes ter ondersteuning van het balkon met smeedijzeren balustrade op de eerste verdieping. Op de begane grond van de middentravee bevindt zich links een schuifraam rechts een dubbele paneeldeur met glasindeling en sierroosters met segmentboogvormig bovenlicht. Op de verdieping bevinden zich twee schuiframen met in de mezzanino twee stolpramen. In de linkertravee bevindt zich een kelderraam, op de begane grond en de verdieping een schuifraam en in de mezzanino een stolpraam. De rechtertravee is identiek aan de linkertravee.
De LINKERZIJGEVEL bestaat uit drie traveeën. In de glad gepleisterde middentravee bestaande uit twee assen bevindt zich op de begane grond een balkon met smeedijzeren balustrade, ondersteund door pijlers met ijzeren korbeelstellen. Boven de twee kelderramen bevinden zich op de begane grond en de verdieping twee schuiframen aan weerszijden geflankeerd door persiennes. Bovenaan bevinden zich twee stolpramen in de mezzanino. De linker- en de rechtetravee zijn identiek aan die in de voorgevel. De ACHTERGEVEL bestaat uit links een terug gelegen gevel waartegen een tweelaags aanbouw met plat dak en rechts een risalerend geveldeel twee vensterassen breed. Rechts in de gevel van de aanbouw bevindt zich in het souterrain een segmentboogvormig raam op de begane grond en de verdieping een rondboog venster met twee gekoppelde twee-ruits draairamen onder de daklijst. In het rechter deel bevinden zich twee schuiframen op de begane grond en de verdieping met in de mezzanino twee stolpramen. De RECHTERZIJGEVEL bestaat uit een risalerende gevel met schijnvoegen bestaande uit twee vensterassen en een terug gelegen gevel van de glad gepleisterde aanbouw. De eerste twee vensterassen zijn identiek aan die rechts in de achtergevel.
Het INTERIEUR is grotendeels in oorspronkelijke staat bewaard gebleven met een vloer in ojiefpatroon, binnenluiken en schoorsteenmantels. In de kelder bevinden zich elementen die duiden op een oudere bouwtijd.

Originally a late medieval castle stood on this site which was among other things renovated in 1612 and 1641. In 1878 the parcel with the house on it was purchased by the Roman Catholic church council in Twello after which it was in 1890 converted into a convent 'the Sint-Anthonius Institution' for the sisters of Charity from Schijndel. Description
House 'Duistervoorde' of the type VILLA with L-shaped floor plan consisting of two storeys, a basement and a mezzanine enclosed by a gently sloping zinc roof covering with bell tower. The bell tower has on each side a rounded arch opening closed by a simple capital with gently sloping gabled roof. The rendered facades are largely provided with false joints in natural stone imitation. The facade is closed by a smooth rendered frieze with consoles to support the profiled gutter. On the division between the storeys there is a profiled drip moulding. In the facades are largely segmental arch shaped six-light sash windows. At the lower side the windows are closed by the drip moulding and on the ground floor at the upper side by a stuccoed shoulder arch. The symmetrical FRONT FACADE consists of three bays. The smooth rendered middle bay consists of two window axes with on the ground floor a hardstone entrance steps with four cast iron columns supporting the balcony with wrought iron balustrade on the first storey. On the ground floor of the middle bay there is on the left a sash window on the right a double panel door with glazing and decorative grilles with segmental arch shaped fanlight. On the storey there are two sash windows with in the mezzanine two casement windows. In the left bay there is a basement window, on the ground floor and the storey a sash window and in the mezzanine a casement window. The right bay is identical to the left bay.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE consists of three bays. In the smooth rendered middle bay consisting of two axes there is on the ground floor a balcony with wrought iron balustrade, supported by pillars with iron corbel brackets. Above the two basement windows there are on the ground floor and the storey two sash windows on either side flanked by blinds. At the top there are two casement windows in the mezzanine. The left and right bay are identical to those in the front facade. The REAR FACADE consists of on the left a recessed facade against which a two-storey extension with flat roof and on the right a projecting facade section two window axes wide. On the right in the facade of the extension there is in the basement a segmental arch window on the ground floor and the storey a round arch window with two coupled two-light casement windows under the roof line. In the right part there are two sash windows on the ground floor and the storey with in the mezzanine two casement windows. The RIGHT SIDE FACADE consists of a projecting facade with false joints consisting of two window axes and a recessed facade of the smooth rendered extension. The first two window axes are identical to those on the right in the rear facade.
The INTERIOR has largely been preserved in original condition with a floor in ogee pattern, interior shutters and chimneypieces. In the basement there are elements indicating an earlier building period.
