North of the village of Ewijk, partly against the embankment body and partly on the embankment (on the landward side), in a bend of the embankment two hundred metres east of the bridge of the National Highway A50 / E31 over the Waal stands a DIKE MAGAZINE of the Polder District Groot Maas and Waal. Description

The DIKE MAGAZINE has a rectangular floor plan and two storeys on a substructure, which is partly set into the embankment body. The building stands half on the flat section of the embankment and half against the sloping embankment body. The building has a gabled roof with overhang on corbels with wooden wind braces above the gable ends. The roof also has an overhang without a gutter above the side gables. The roof is covered with dark-glazed Mulde tiles, while on the northern roof plane the place name "EWIJK" is laid out in red Mulde tiles. The gables are built up in brick in Flemish bond. The magazine doors, shutters and windows all close off with a segmental arch in masonry. Both end gables (EAST and WEST GABLE) have the same layout. In the first storey there is a wide arched magazine door opening, closed off by a stone segmental arch. In the jambs there are hardstone thumb blocks.
