Inleiding
Aan de Kerkdijk gelegen bakstenen voormalig DIJKMAGAZIJN in Waterstaatsstijl onder pannen zadeldak uit het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw dat nu dienst doet als opslagruimte. De situering is onaangetast. Het magazijn ligt op rijbaanhoogte op de dijk, buitendijks aan de rivierzijde. Het behoort tot het oudste tupe dat in het Land van Maas en Waal voorkomt. Identieke magazijnen staan aan de Vluchtheuvelstraat te Dreumel en aan de Waalbandijk te Afferden (gemeente Druten).
Omschrijving
Het in baksteen, op rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken bouwwerk bestaat uit twee bouwlagen onder met grijze oudhollandse pannen gedekt, overstekend zadeldak met de nok evenwijdig aan de weg. Eenvoudige makelaar en windveren. De KOPGEVELS zijn identiek : symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel ; hoeklisenen en in beide bouwlagen een houten dubbele laaddeur met omlijsting van cementpleister platstukken en kroonlijst, op de verdieping over de gehele breedte, gekornist en om de halfronde houten vulling van het boogveld boven de laaddeur getrokken. Basement onder de platstukken, onderdorpels en omgaand cordonlijst van hardsteen.
De ZIJGEVELS worden geleed door een vijftal rechthoekige spaarvelden in beide bouwlagen. In deze spaarvelden zijn ventilatiespleten met hardstenen kozijnen aangebracht.
Het voormalig dijkmagazijn behoort tot het oudste type dat in het land van Maas en Waal voorkomt.

Located on the Kerkdijk, a brick former DYKE MAGAZINE in Waterstaatsstijl style beneath a gabled roof with clay tiles from the third quarter of the 19th century that now serves as storage space. The SIDE FACADES are articulated by a row of five rectangular spandrels in both storeys. In these spandrels ventilation slits with hard stone frames are installed.
The former dyke magazine belongs to the oldest type found in the Land of Maas and Waal.
