3. Het HEKWERK. De tuin van het museum wordt aan de west- en de zuidzijde (straatzijde) begrensd door een bakstenen muur, die is voorzien van siermetselwerk. Aan de straatzijde bestaat de muur uit lagere delen tussen vierkante hekpijlers, die onderling worden verbonden door dubbele ijzeren stangen. Het rijk uitgevoerde dubbele draaihek bestaat deels uit smeedijzer en deels uit ornamentaal gezaagd plaatijzer met ajourwerk. In het het draaihek zijn vier in roedenbundels gestoken bijlen (fasces cum securibus) opgenomen, tekens van waardigheid die door de begeleiders van Romeinse magistraten en priesters werden gedragen.

3. The RAILINGS. The museum garden is bounded on the west and south sides (street side) by a brick wall, which is provided with ornamental brickwork. On the street side the wall consists of lower sections between square pier posts, which are connected to each other by double iron rods. The richly executed double wrought-iron gate consists partly of wrought iron and partly of ornamentally sawn sheet iron with open work. In the wrought-iron gate are four bundles of rods containing axes (fasces cum securibus) incorporated, symbols of dignity that were carried by the attendants of Roman magistrates and priests.
