Inleiding
VILLA in eclectische trant uit omstreeks 1890, met bijbehorende ERFSCHEIDING, mogelijk naar ontwerp van de bouwkundige J. de Groot, gesitueerd in villapark 'De Boomberg'. De villa ligt iets teruggerooid in een tuin, langs de straat afgesloten door een ijzeren spijlenhek met toegangshek.
Omschrijving
De asymmetrisch opgebouwde villa telt één bouwlaag en zolderverdieping op een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond en bestaat uit twee haaks op elkaar aansluitende vleugels onder zadeldaken met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. In de oksel van de bouwdelen aan de achterzijde een plat afgedekt gedeelte. De zadeldaken zijn voorzien van houten sierlijsten en sierspanten met decoratief snijwerk en makelaars in de geveltoppen. De gepleisterde gevels zijn boven de grijze plint gedetailleerd met horizontale sierbanden en een cordonlijst. Vensters en deuren met recht gesloten bovenlichten onder segmentbogen met sluitsteen in het pleisterwerk. Op de begane grond overwegend schuifvensters en op de verdieping stolpramen. Voor de risalerende topgevel aan de voorgevel (Z) een gebogen erkerpartij en daarboven een dubbele glasdeur naar een houten balkon. Rechts van de risaliet de hoofdentree met deur onder luifel en een gekoppeld venster. De westgevel telt twee vensterassen met schuifvensters op de begane grond en boven de cordonlijst twee getoogde blinde vensters.
Aan de achtergevel (N) rechts een hoog opgaande hoekpartij met puntgevel en sierspant en links daarvan een plat afgedekt gedeelte met paneeldeur en bovenin een roosvenster. Aan de oostgevel rechts de blinde gevel van de lage aanbouw en links een puntgevel met sierspant, waarin op de begane grond één schuifvenster en op de verdieping twee zoldervensters.
De erfscheiding voor het huis bestaat uit een eenvoudig ijzeren spijlenhek met gietijzeren kolommetjes aan weerszijden van het toegangshek.
Waardering
De laat negentiende-eeuwse villa met bijbehorende erfscheiding is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief en nagenoeg gaaf voorbeeld van een villa in schilderachtige eclectische trant. De villa is in hoge mate van stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege de ensemblewaarde als kenmerkend en beeldbepalend onderdeel van het gaaf bewaard gebleven villapark 'De Boomberg'.

Description
The asymmetrically constructed villa has one storey and an attic storey on an approximately square ground plan and consists of two wings at right angles to each other under gabled roofs with covered Dutch tiles. In the corner of the building sections at the rear a flat roofed section. The gabled roofs are fitted with wooden decorative mouldings and ornamental roof trusses with decorative carpentry work and makelaars in the gable tops. The plastered facades are detailed above the grey plinth with horizontal decorative bands and a cornice. Windows and doors with straight-topped fanlights under segmental arches with keystones in the plasterwork. On the ground floor predominantly sash windows and on the upper storey casement windows. In front of the projecting gable at the front facade (S) a curved bay section and above it a double glass door to a wooden balcony. To the right of the projection the main entrance with door under canopy and a paired window. The west facade has two window bays with sash windows on the ground floor and above the cornice two arched blind windows.
On the rear facade (N) on the right a high corner section with pointed gable and ornamental roof truss and to the left of it a flat roofed section with a panel door and at the top a wheel window. On the east facade on the right the blind wall of the low extension and on the left a pointed gable with ornamental roof truss, in which on the ground floor one sash window and on the upper storey two attic windows.
The boundary fence for the house consists of a simple iron railing fence with cast-iron columns on either side of the access gate.
Valuation
The late nineteenth-century villa with accompanying boundary fence is of general importance because of its architectural and cultural-historical value as a representative and virtually intact example of a villa in picturesque eclectic style. The villa is of considerable urban planning importance because of its ensemble value as a characteristic and defining component of the well-preserved villa park 'De Boomberg'.
